The man Kailani had run away from seven years ago now sat in her inner meeting chambers on the chair before the table with his left elbow on the arm of the chair. His blue eyes danced over the red lacy gown reaching her thigh, which barely kept anything on her body hidden.
"How long has it been? Seven years?" He asked, when his eyes finally lifted to fix on hers, "I think that's long enough to figure out how this day is going to go. Come sit, we have a long way to go."
Helplessness flashed in her grey eyes as she stared at him, but knowing she had no way out of this, she swallowed and took a step forward. She reached the chair on the opposite side of the table where he sat and began pulling at it.
He spoke again. "What are you doing?"
"Taking a seat."
"That's not your seat," he said matter-of-factly.
She stared at him in confusion, "There are only two chairs around this table, sir." her voice came out too innocent for the girl he knew her to be.
He smirks, "There's another." And he pointed to his lap covered with the black trousers he has on. He wanted her seated on him.
She flushed, "But, sir..."
"What? I thought you get to sit on the laps of the highest spender every night?" his voice hardened at the last part of his question.
"Yes." she bit her lips, feeling ashamed of her job for the first time ever.
He arched a brow at her. "Well, don't you think I deserve one? After all, I know for a fact that my two thousand talents of gold and five hundred talent of silver contributed to the success of your Parlour. So what do you say?"
She uttered no word in response, and she just watched him, hoping the ground would open up and swallow her or she'd disappear to a place he'd never find her. "Come, sit on my lap. We have a lot to talk about."
She didn't move, perhaps knowing nothing good would come from this. The last time she saw him, she wronged him and took his gold. Any sane man would want revenge and she knew that's what he wanted too, despite not sounding like it.
"We don't have all night, Kailani!" he snapped with a rigid voice that made her jump in her stand. Goosebumps scattered all over her body and she trembled from the inside out and he saw it, too. Turned out her inability to follow his command had triggered him and that was not good.
The last thing she wanted to do was disobey him, not when he looked so terrifying and not when she was all alone with him.
She dropped the robe off her shoulder, leaving her in the see-through lacy underwear. Dragging in a deep breath, she strode towards the handsome devil in the centre of the room with a mischievous smirk.
He is not the first man. Deep breaths, it will be over soon. She told herself.
