Chapter 9 Quinn wondered how many times she’d traveled this same stretch of highway in her lifetime. The interstate pale gray under her headlights, traffic light and steady all around her. A surprising number of trees alongside for being so close to a major city. Heading west out of Illinois, watching for the first glimpse of the soaring stainless steel of the Arch in the distance. Countless times as a kid, of course, mostly in the huge backseats of her parents’ typical road-boat cars.
