V I woke up sweating due to the vivid dreams I had been having .I reached for my phone" 4:22 am Again what the f***" I groaned .I had been waking up at the exact same time every morning like something.... I thought about it a lot lately what it would be like to find her .most wolves find their mate on or shortly after their 18th birthday a rare few find them younger if they have a connection already Nicholas my Gamma and his mate evanly were best friends turned high school sweethearts and on Nick's 16th birthday the mate Bond pulled them closer but rarer still is a mature unmated Alpha I took the title at 21 as tradition States 2 years ago I had started to think the moon goddess has simply forgotten to make me a mate as I was kind of a loner and the lack of a mate has made it more so I decided to go on a run and Silas was itching to get out" Ethan you still on patrol training " I linked my betta he was young just about to be 20 usually the alpha and beta are very close in age and we would have been the title was meant to go to Ethan's older brother and my best friend Jasper but when we were 17 he was killed by Rogues he won but his injuries were to severe later we found the weapons used were dipped in silver and wolfsbane so I took Ethan in his place he was kind of a pseudo little brother for me to " just headed around the pack house now why" he replied "want to go for a run?" Knowing that I wasn't going to get back to sleep anytime soon I decided to get up and get ready for the day as I searched my closet I found a cute pair of black leggings and paired them with a yellow tank top and a black jean jacket after choosing my outfit I decided to jump in the shower and let the hot water wash the sleep off of my body after finishing I got dressed decided to do something with my hair I blow-dried it and straightened it before putting it up with a black and yellow sunflower headband after staring at myself in the mirror for a few minutes I decided it was time to head downstairs I stepped into the kitchen and saw my mom sitting at the kitchen table with her mug of coffee and reading the newspaper" good morning Mom" I said with a chipper tone she looked up from her newspaper and smiled "morning baby doll how did you sleep "she asked I sighed" not too bad "I said not wanting to worry her "that's good" she replied I decided to make some waffles for breakfast you know the kind you just pop in the toaster pour some syrup on and call it a day shortly after I sat down at the table my dad came downstairs he smiled at us warmly" good morning Darlings "he said with a yawn he leaned down and kissed my mother on her forehead I smiled at them they love each other so much and I feared I would never get to experience that not having a wolf meant I might not have a mate as well growing up I always dreamt of what it would be like to find that one person the moon goddess made especially for me perfect in every way but on my 13th birthday when my first shift was supposed to take place those dreams were shattered my father poured himself a cup of coffee and set with us at the table" any plans for today Dad ?" I said kind of curious" as a matter of fact yes "he replied" there's a wolf pack couple miles out of town I decided to go and meet with the alpha just to let them know we were in town and that we pose no threat to their pack" he stated "that's a great idea honey we've had plenty of time to settle in it's about time we introduced ourselves" my mother said in a sweet tone" how about you snowflake" my dad asked looking at me expectantly "well I was thinking about going to the library and getting some new reading material maybe stopping in at the little cafe or taking a nature hike long one of the river after" I said with a smile "oh that sounds like a wonderful idea he cooed and with that I took my plate to the sink and headed off it was only about 7 :30 a.m. right now and the library wasn't due to open till 8 so I decided to walk to kill time I was walking down the sidewalk and I couldn't help but think about my parents and the bond that they had and wishing that I had a wolf then I could experience that as well I'll be 21 in 3 days and I haven't even had a boyfriend really I mean I've had a few crushes but nothing actually official the closest I've gotten to one was in 7th grade a boy named Brody whitefur had asked me to the school dance I accepted but in the middle of dancing she started to get a little too handsy and when I declined his advances that was it he turned his attention to one of the popular girls and forgot all about me so the idea of somebody loving you unconditionally for no reason at all other than you just being in existence was something I yearned for I took a deep breath as tears threatened to escape as I walked up to the Library just in time to see Claire the librarian flipping the sign to open she smiled when she saw me coming" well good morning Miss akayla "she said with a cordial tone "good morning Claire "I replied giving her a bright smile she was an older woman probably in her mid to late 40s she had light brown hair with streaks of Gray and smile wrinkles in the corner of her eyes she was small in stature with a big heart always had a smile for everyone She always reminded me of that sweet aunt that baked cookies and was always knitting something we became familiar with each other shortly after we moved here as I'm an Avid Reader and typically check out two to three books a week "so how did you like the last novel ?"she asked looking at me curiously" it was great the main character could have been a little nicer but for the most part it was okay I'd give it a 9 out of 10 " I stated she gave me a bright smile" I totally agree. I also put a couple of titles up on the desk that you might want to take a look at I thought you would enjoy them" she chirped with a grin I have been really in to the medieval times novels lately kings queens Knights and so on the most recent one being the story of the reign of Mary Queen of Scots I walked over to the desk noticing the pile of books and to my delight they were of the proper genre Claire had a great eye and we had similar taste in novels often I enjoyed her recommendations scrolling the titles picking the one that seemed most interesting and walking over to take a place in one of the big arm chairs set up corner I had let myself get lost in the pages before I knew it was going on noon Claire came over to let me know she was going to run out to get some lunch and asked of I'd like to stay and keep reading while she was out or if I needed to go somewhere because she would be locking the door I decided that some lunch sounded good so I followed Clair up to the desk to check the book out and take it home to finish after checking out my book I left the library headed down the street a little tackle shop in Deli and get one of their amazing sandwiches after purchasing my sandwich I decided to go have a picnic by the river I found a nice quiet spot and decided to lay in the grass I opened my book once again and scrolled through the pages as I ate I was laying there quietly and engrossed in my book nibbling on my sandwich here in there mindlessly I had picked it up to take a bite without noticing that a bee was also enjoying my lunch as I bit down I felt a sharp pain in my mouth spitting out into my hand I saw the little bee crunched up inside my sandwich about the same time I had heard a Yelp that sounded like a dog I set up looking down the riverbank to notice three large wolves standing about a hundred yards away on the opposite side of the river bank I froze the grass was tall and I hoped it was just tall enough that they didn't see me I slowly and quietly picked up my book and darted into the trees Chase's POV The guys and I were still at the river I was getting ready to lean down and take a drink when a sharp pain shot through my mouth I let out a Yelp surprised at the sensation in a second flat Ethan and Nick were on my side both linking me at once "what's wrong what happened "they asked looking at me concerned " I don't know there was just a pinch in my mouth"I couldn't explain it the pain that I had felt it wasn't mine but some one elses pain "mate" Silas said "something has hurt our mate" he growled at the same time I heard a small whimper almost inaudible and then the most amazing sent hit my nose like sweet honeysuckles and fresh rain I scanned the area but saw nothing but could feel the pull of the bond she was close she had to be from town what is it nick said c*****g his head "I think my mates in town" I replied through the link" oooooh bro what if ur mate is human " Ethan said teasingly "oh damn would Natalie be pissed to be out shown by a human I don't think he shriveled heart could take it" nick joked after a moment the sent was gone I looked at the guys and linked them that we should head back now as we had spent all morning by the river and it was about lunch time and I was starving as we walked up the front steps of the pack house evanly came walking out the front door nick rushed up to greet her scooping her up and placing a playful kiss on her nose "there's my girl" he gushed before nuzzling in to her neck "ugh get a room you two" Ethan said looking like he just bit in to a lemon they both giggled before evanly spoke "alpha there is a man from town in ur office I have Seth keeping an eye on him he is wolf but I believe he may be a rouge of sorts "she said looking puzzled "ok thanks ev I'll go see what's up "I state before jogging in to the house and though the parlor to my office as I reached for the knob I froze that scent danced in my sinuses once again honey suckle and rain mixed with a much stronger male scent I slowly opened the door and the stranger inside stood and bowed in. respect he was an older man he looked to be between 40 and 50 yrs old " hello sir I'm chase Forester alpha of crescent meadow pack" I announced offering my hand he shook it "hello alpha Forester I'm mason frost former alpha of the winters moon pack it's a pleasure to meet you thank you for granting me an audience " he said bowing once more just then Ethan walked in I had linked Seth it was okay to go as he walked out my betta and I moved behind my desk and took a seat giving mr frost an opportunity to offer an explanation as to why he was here he told us he was alpha of his old pack and due to a misfortune with his daughter and having other children he had to step down and did so willingly and that him and his family pose no threat to our pack and do not want to seem like they are intruding they just needed a safe place away from pack life with their daughter so she didn't feel so put of place this peaked my interest wondering why would a pack make her feel out of place it's the one place a wolf should feel most accepted I thought " so a daughter huh "? So that we may get aquatinted since we are practically neighbors" I said smiling brightly at him he nodded stating it would be their pleasure before standing to depart he shook my hand bowing once more I linked nick asking if he could inform the. kitchen staff that we would have 3 extra guests for dinner after that was taken care of I headed to my room for a shower I got in to the bathroom and quickly rid myself of my clothes before turning on the water letting it heat up after a few minutes I stepped in clothing the curtain behind me enveloped by the hot water cascading down my body releasing any tension that had built up from our run I sighed with relief as I stuck my head under the water using the thrumming of the water to drowned out the world and letting my mind wander back to the conversation with mr. Frost why did he seem so pain when he was talking about his daughter it was odd how he had started to say pup then stopped mid-sentence entrance to baby? I inquired" I don't believe so try somewhere in between casual and formal" my father answered I walked over and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek before heading back upstairs to raid my closet presentable I had a couple of outfit options laid out on the bed and decided to go with a pair of light blue jeggings and a hot pink v neck top a chain choker with a crescent moon pendant and a pair of pink wedge heels I did my make up in a natural look high lighting my eyes and lips after I finished my makeup I moved to my hair splitting it down the center and making two dutch braids one down each side then tieing a black bandana around my head I'm putting in my favorite pair of gold hoop earrings feeling satisfied with my choices I headed down stairs to meet with my parents outside
