Chapter 15:
Thad and Geo returned to horseback. The two monks now shared the cart. The new man didn’t speak a word. It was some time before Thad learned the man only spoke a language from the east, Slav. What little was shared between the two monks was translated by Vitolo. That information proved limited.
The group searched out a man who used to work for the bishop before he’d taken ill and Vitolo replaced the man. None spoke of the illness that struck the man down, but it was dreadful enough to have the man banished from Trieste months ago.
