Aramis Bronx Davina
My hands took that book on that small space and dusted out some dirt before reading its title 'Warrioress Wife' I tilted my head after realizing that I've seen or heard that title before somewhere.
The image of my mom letting me witness that book the day of my death. Due to shock, my hands involuntarily let go of the book, earning a loud thud on the table.
"T-This is what my mother was planning to give me after I do some groceries," I mumbled underneath my resonant breathing, I'm trying so hard to calm myself down.
After I regained my composure, I took a seat on the study table and carelessly flipped the pages of the book.
The cover looks new like it hasn't even opened yet, I took in a deep long breath before starting to read the novel before me. It's been a while since I've read too.
First off, the novel was well-written. It's about powerful bedridden warrioress with silver eyes and ash grey hair. She has a task to save her village, her family, and was chosen to be a candidate towards the hand of the King of the Devon Kingdom.
She was forced to attend a fight and experience challenges and quests to be fit as a title of being Queen and can be allowed to request something that her heart desire.
My hands flipped through many pages and my heart was beating so fast realizing that what's happening before me right now is what the book is allowing me to read.
The protagonist's name in this book is the same as mine. Aramis Bronx Davina, the vigorous bedridden warrioress that was chosen to be one of the candidates to be the King's Queen.
I tried to check the book and flipped it towards the next page, but I couldn't open it. What in the world? Why can't I flip this page of the book? I've read the last chapter and it told me that the protagonist has entered the Library where she can find information about this place.
Am I reincarnated in some game or novel? This novel seems like the same as what's happening to me right now except for the dialogues that I've been using since I woke up.
"T-This can't be," I breathed while closing the book as I covered my eyes using my hands, I could feel my worry crawling up towards my mind.
"Where the hell did I reincarnate? Why does this book predict what happened to me the moment I opened my eyes here?" questions kept spiraling in my mind, but no answer came to greet me.
Shaking my head, I stood up and looked for some maps, maybe it contains where this Kingdom is located.
After finding some, I lay it flat on the carpet where I can freely check the map without it rolling on its original form, this is what I hate the most when I'm working on some cartolina paper.
Before I could even annoy myself and rip this map apart, I took a few small books to let the corners stay put and allow me to clearly see the center.
"There! Now, I can check everything from here," I muttered to myself before checking at the map. It's the whole map of the Devon Kingdom.
At first, I was excited but stopped when I realized that it's only letting me see the Devon Kingdom in the center while we're surrounded by enormous forest, on the far east probably days to travel is the dessert, there's a huge lake on the north and the rest is the forest rich with trees and there are marks where those giant beasts live.
I ran towards the other map and saw nothing around the world I know aside from the map that I lay flat on the carpet at the center of the room.
There's no Asia, Europe, Japan, and any continents or countries that I'm familiar with, this is ridiculous! Could it be...
"Holy crap, am I really in a novel or a game that I want to play or read back at my past life?" I curiously asked myself, I was about to look more into it when I heard footsteps approaching the Archives.
Without wasting any more time, I cleaned and put some books in my bag and those maps before hiding myself in the dark corners of the Archives.
I'm surprised that I could hear it though, I know that they're walking really slowly. Maybe this is also part of my undiscovered abilities and skills. If I ever did have one, who knows?
I peeked at the small spot that allows me to see who's coming inside, "Your Highness, with all due respect, may I ask why you're letting those warrioress feasts like it's their last supper?" the door creaked open letting me witness a few groups together with the King.
"Agreed, we might lose budget for the whole season since we still have to keep this up until tomorrow before the first challenge," one of them asked, wearing luxurious robes that shout of royalty and elegance.
"I believe that all of those foods that were served are all part of the challenge, do you remember the theme of the first challenge? It's famine," the other one explained.
It wasn't my intention to eavesdrop, but that's right…the theme is famine, so what is all of that allowing us to prepare for the first challenge? Are they not going to allow us to eat for days?
Those rich-looking people continued mumbling while my eyes gazed at the King. His face looks gentle from this distance, but what he did to me last night still lingers in my mind. It's like I'm dealing with a beast myself inside of this castle.
The King didn't talk to them as he roamed his eyes at the messy study table and carpet that is filled with the books I used for keeping the map flat on the carpet. Crap, I didn't think of cleaning those mess!
He glanced around the Archives like he felt something odd aside from the presence of people beside him.
Oh, shoot! Will I be found?! How on earth can I leave this place?!
"Gentlemen, could you please leave me alone for a moment?" He didn't answer any of their questions as those people bowed their heads respectfully and quietly left the room.
"Who's there?" he immediately asked in a deep serious voice after those people left.
I almost stumbled from his use of the word, he could really tell that I'm here?! Is he a psychic or something?
My mouth remained shut as I heard the King walking towards the study table, "I know you're there, reveal yourself before I call some of my guards," he threatened.
What should I do?! Is he going to kill me if a peasant is here reading something important? I exhaled before gripping my hands. My sweating is massive!
"On a count of three, one," the King raised his voice which made me panic for a moment, why is he counting?!
"Two," he sounded like he's happy counting.
"Three," I grunted and almost wanted to slap myself for counting with him, I glanced at where he was and he turned his back and was about to call someone when I panicked.
"A-Alright! I'm revealing myself!" I complained before revealing myself to him. I walked cautiously towards the study table and was astounded to see how striking the beauty of this man before me was.
"Your Majesty," I greeted before bowing my head. Wait a minute, why am I even greeting this guy?!
Did it come from my instincts? My body moved on its own and it felt like it! Shaking my head, I looked at his eyes.
His eyebrows raised upon seeing my presence, "It's you, I wasn't expecting someone like you to be here," the King greeted, the small distance between us is enough for us to examine each other's appearance. Did he remember me? That's a surprise.
"Well, I wasn't expecting you to be here either," I bluntly replied, so he grinned at my response. Jeez, why is my heart pounding so rapidly?
Remember how he put the freaking knife on your neck, woman! I scolded myself and didn't notice that he was watching me intently.
"Interesting," he whispered while grinning, what is up with that look?
"So, what are you doing here, warrioress? A peasant like you isn't allowed inside this premises," he picked up some books on the carpet before silently placing them on the study table.
"You know that I could call the guards and take you away from here right?" he added when I didn't respond.
"If you really want to call them then you would've done that a while ago," I argued, and was surprised that I'm taking this so calmly.
I should be dying because of my nervousness because this Devil is right in front of me, but look at this situation! How can I still stand straight?!
"I can't say that you're wrong, why do you think I'm not calling them?" he asked, I almost scoffed at his statement. Isn't it obvious?
"Of course, you want to punish me yourself by killing me right?" I blurted out, he looked stunned at my response as he turned his back on me.
What is he doing? Is he crying? Why are his shoulders shrugging? What a weird King.
"A-Ahem, no, not today but for a lady at your age suitable for marriage, you sure do speak disrespectfully, it seems like you weren't born in this place," he stated a fact before facing me that almost made me want to laugh. He sounded like he didn't remember putting a knife on my neck yesterday.
"Well, I am not technically not born here," I carelessly replied.
"What was that again?" the King curiously asked, so I flinched before scratching the back of my head. I'm an i***t for even mentioning that to him!
I have to be aware of what my mouth has been spouting, who knows if they have scientists here that would examine because I'm different from them?
"N-Nothing Your Majesty," I grabbed some of my stuff before exhaling, I just hope I don't get sued for stealing some stuff here.
Wait a minute, there's no police here right?! I'm lucky! I could take the guards here too though, at least one by one.
"Well, if you don't have anything to say, I'll be taking my leave now," I bit my lip and was about to leave when he grabbed my wrists.
What does he want! I really want to leave now or I'll die because of my fright!
"Hold on, you haven't told me what you took from this place or even what you're doing here," he sounded serious, so I softly shoved my hand away from him before looking him in the eye.
"I just want to be more knowledgeable about this place, I forgot some fragments of my memories," I bit my lips after saying those words, that's the only excuse that I could think of. He looks like he's trying to process what I have just said before looking at me intently again.
"Is your way of speaking towards the Royalties and Nobles have also been forgotten?" I almost laughed after hearing him say those words, so I averted my eyes before nodding.
Oh crap, how did I get myself into this kind of mess? That's really how I talk back to my past life either.
"I-I think so, plus I'll only respect who's worthy of having it," I firmly replied, so he let go of my hand.
"Alright, I'll take that excuse for now, but the next time I find you here, be ready for the harsh consequences," even if he was giving me a half-smile, I could tell that he was dead serious.
"U-Understood, Your Majesty," after I bowed my head, I swiftly ran away from there without looking back.
The King, it seems like he's different from what I perceived last night. He looks nice but cruel, and a devil in the flesh.
Who is the real him? A different side of him was observed by me a while ago, he looks interested in some odd things...
"W-Why am I curious about that?!" I shook my head, and cautiously ran across the large halls of the palace and paced downstairs.
I only got to breathe calmly after reaching the quarters. After closing the door behind my back, I noticed that there's a few warrioress around trying to rest and mingle with one another.
They didn't mind me coming in as I went inside of my room and noticed that Dahlia, Loane, and probably Thalia are still feasting on the buffet in the hall.
I exhaled a lungful of air before placing my bag under the bed. My hands fished out that book I took from there and tried to flip some pages.
My eyes widened in shock after realizing what I've just read from the new page that I have opened, it was the moment the King and I met in the Library a while ago.
"H-Holy crap, this world might be really inside of a novel or game after all," I gripped the edges of the book, before staring at the darkness surrounding the whole room.
This is going to be tougher, I need more information about this. If only I had technology here!
To be continued...
