Chapter 14- Alpha and Luna

Nyx's POV
I had caught site of the man who couldn't exit my thoughts, Rory. He was going to be Alpha but a part of me sensed something, something that I wished I could escape from, another mate. Being with someone high ranking again brought back those painful memories of Cade raping me whilst I was unconscious.
Warm hands grabbed my own and I didn't hesitate to see who those hands belonged to, Chase.
I give Chase a big hug to help calm my nerves, and it appears to have done the trick.
We walked over to the Omegas who are serving the guests from our pack and other packs. I'm glad I'm not doing it.
I can feel eyes on me and the bump that is too revealing with this tight-ish dress on.
Mary, the Luna of our pack, is greeting other Lunas' until she spots me. I can only wonder what everyone thinks about me right now.
"I'll go and get you some water", Chase soon comments and all I can do is nod at him. I was thirsty and was it me, or was it boiling in the packhouse?
Cade's parents, Michael and Sheila, stared daggers into my soul as they found out that their precious son had gone rogue, not my problem.
Alpha Tristan soon steps into the clearing under the big, bright chandelier that hangs from the ceiling.
"I would like to say, welcome back my sons, Andrew, Matthew, Rory, Xander and Ethan from training. As you may know, Rory will be taking over the River Shine Pack". Everyone began to cheer, and I see all the five brothers proudly standing together with their mother, Mary.
"Rory, please come up here".
As Rory also enters the clearing, an elder wolf is waiting for him, dagger and goblet in each hand, ready to bless Rory as Alpha.
"I am here today to bestow the gift of an Alpha on this boy, no, young man, who has grown into such a fine Alpha", the Elder begins to speak and all I can feel is joy for the man I have hated and now love.
"Rory Philips, I shall cut your palm with this dagger, and with this hand, I shall pour the new blood into the goblet of Alphas", as the palm of Rory's hand is sliced, I feel the pain in my own hand. The Goddess has really blessed me with a second chance mate?
As the ceremony is completed, the new Alpha whispers into the elders' ears, which intrigues everyone.
"May Nyx Strider also come here"? Asks the Elder who has asked an Omega to go fetch something for him, when the Omega returns whilst I stand in the center with utter confusion on my face, everyone around me begins to gasp.
"Your new Luna, Nyx Strider". The Elder broke out after the same palm cutting he had done to Rory earlier. Had I been anointed Luna?
Everyone was unsure whether to cheer at first but Chase and Rory's brothers cheered, which made everyone soon join in.
Rory's POV
I asked the Elder to make my mate, Luna. Even though I haven't marked her, she will be protected no matter what. When he had anointed her my Luna, I was pleased with my first act of Alpha. But now, what would she think? Had I pushed her into something she wasn't ready for? Will she still be my mate?
I grabbed her wrist and I couldn't help smacking my lips into her soft, full and tasty lips. The pack went wild and all I could think about was marking her.
"Nyx, I'm sorry I should have asked your permission", I soon apologized to her, breaking the hottest kiss I've ever had. Her face was calm.
"We're mates afterall".
Hearing this made my heart re-beat again in my hard chest. She placed her soft hand onto my cheek and began kissing me passionately. This woman really was asking for it.
Narrators POV
As the night wore on, Rory and Nyx were congratulated on becoming Alpha and Luna, as well as being mates. Everyone but a mysterious figure hiding in the shadows watching the whole seen.
As the night drew to a close, Rory and Nyx were soon in Rory's bedroom, where they shared more passionate kisses on each other's bodies.
