Chapter 17: Damian and Ridge, Troubled
The call from headquarters came in on Damian’s cell phone just before noon. Damian listened to Agent Beatrice Duntle explain that a strange situation had transpired at a place called Sally’s Diner along the Harknaw River. After hanging up his phone, he told Ridge all the details he had gathered from Duntle: supposedly a mysterious murder inside a restroom; no witnesses; no cameras; the waitress named Cindy Cummings saw three men at a table; the men left the diner immediately.
Ridge looked over at Damian. “Do you need to sketch? If so, I can drive.”
“There’s nothing to sketch right now. The pictures aren’t coming to me.”
“Are you broken?”
“Of course not. I’m just not sensing anything important right now. But when I do, I can sketch at that time. R
