Morgan was the first to arrive at the pier. Deciding to walk along the dock, she parked her bike in a shady spot so Misty could curl up and nap in the wicker basket attached to the handlebars, a habit she had developed when taking a ride with Morgan. Morning temperatures were already beginning to climb, and she knew within the hour the heat would be up in the upper eighties. Once the kids got out of school for summer, experience had taught her the temperatures would rarely go below 80 until October. Mornings were the best time to get out and get in a walk, as she had done this morning.
