THE KILL JOB EPISODE EIGHT

I realised i had been fighting a loosing battle so no matter how hard I thought i would fight Tom, he was always a step a head of me. Kepha And i drove to the address that the lady whom I thought was Tom's wife gave us but on getting there, we got nothing. The house had been vacant for two months and no one lived there. She played us....but why?

We left, and kepha pulled over by the side of the door and asked where we were headed next. We needed to strategize because if Tom had my wife and son, it meant I had to dance to his tune because I never knew where to find him or where he was pulling the strings from. Kepha and I had gone to the same place Tom gave me my instructions from the first day but he had moved from that place too.

Kepha: what plans do you have now.

Me: I will have to kill my boss. It's the only way I get to see my family again.

Kepha: you need back up while at it?

Me: I don't want to drag you into this mess unless you are willing to come with me.

He sat there quiet for a while then eventually assured me that he would have my back to the very end. We were friends right, and that's what friends did, they stick by each other no matter what .

We went back to his place after shopping for some clothes since i had everything blown up in my previous house. I got a call from Betty's sister telling me Betty had left earlier to drop Brandon to school but she never showed up after that, she has been trying to reach her but her phone was off. Betty sure didn't know how to keep herself out of trouble even after warning her several times.

Kepha and I planned to go to my boss's estate that night and since I already knew how many guards were there and the structure of the place the two of us would be able to bring them down and enter the estates without raising an alarm. The first time I was working with Mariko i felt like he had either set me up or the guards were just so smart, I mean how could they see me yet I was behind the house. Could it be that Mariko wanted me dead more than he did Peterson?

Before we drove out of town I passed by Pat's house, pat was Betty's sister and i needed to find out a few things from her before I left. We got to her place at around 8:00pm and kepha waited in the car as I went in.

Pat opened the door and when she saw me she allowed me in nervously.

Pat: thank God you are here, my sister is missing.

Me: apart from taking Brandon to school, where else did she say she was going?

Pat: she didn't say anything, lately she doesn't tell me anything going on in her life and why aren't you two together anyway?

Me: we are together Pat just that i had work to attend to and we disagreed on a few things. Couples are allowed to disagree right?..

She did not respond to that but walked towards the seat and made herself comfortable.

Pat: you were supposed to be here protecting them, was work more important than family, where is Aliyah right now, and where is my sister?

Pat was angry though I didn't get why since I couldn't keep track of her sister's decisions. Why was she blaming me anyway. I knew it was my responsibility to take care of my family but what had I done wrong?

Talking to pat did not make things any better so I left and joined kepha in the car before he drove off.

The drive was a bit silent for the better part of the ride and when we got close to Peterson's estate we parked the car at a distance..

Kepha: are you sure about this?

Me: no. But I have to.

Kepha: what if there is another way?

Me: what other way?

Kepha: we get in there, kill everyone else but save Peterson. We can blow up the house so there won't be any evidence showing that we did not kill him.

Kepha had a point but what if Tom was monitoring, what if he was steps a head of us like he had been in the past couple of days?

Kepha: are you sure that your boss is here?

Me: he should be, this is his house and this is where he has been living a along. come on.

I c****d my gun and got in heading towards the gate. I knocked and one of the guards came peeping and when he saw me he opened.

Guard: Henry, it's late is my boss expecting you?

Me: No but there is an emergency and I need to speak to him.

Peterson's guards knew me so well and since i was a regular there, they wouldn't have a reason to suspect me.

Guard: I will let him know you are here.

The guard started walking towards the house and I shot him in the back as kepha shot the other one who was busy taking his information. They didn't know kepha so the other guard request him to leave his ID with him before kepha shot him.

Kepha: he is down, check around for any other.

He whispered making his way towards me.

Am not sure of what happened to the rest of the guards because we did not meet anyone else in the compound.

Me: you take the back, I will take the front side.

Kepha moved towards the back of the house and one detail i missed was that Peterson had a dog that had a kennel towards the back of the house. When the dog saw kepha it started barking and it became vigorous to an extent of wanting to jump on him only that it was chained. I went to the back and found kepha pinned to the wall not sure how to go about the dog issue. The dog was still barking and I could hear someone approaching asking what was wrong with it. I shot it before it could get to us then quickly made my way towards the edge of the wall and when the lady appeared I grabbed her mouth and pinned her to my chest.

Me: shhhh!

She tried to fight me off but my grip was tight.

Me: i will let go of your mouth but if you scream i will kill you. Do you Understand?

She nodded and I let go as I signalled kepha to take the front side of the house and he did.

I on the other hand pushed the lady on the wall and pointed a gun to her head.

Me: what's your name and who are you to the family?

Her: my name is Sabina and I'm the house help.

Me: who else is in the house?

Sabina: just me and Mr Peterson

Me: where Is everyone else!?

Sabina: the daughter is in the UK and his wife has been away for a while. I don't know where she went.

I grabbed her arm and walked with her to the house through the backdoor that led to the kitchen. When we got in, I found both Peterson and kepha holding a gun at each other and when he saw me he shifted his gun from kepha to me and I pointed mine to him as well.

Peterson: are you hurt?

He asked the house help and she shook her head still shaken up by my approach to her.

Peterson: let her go. I don't know what this is about but she is innocent.

Me: drop your gun

Peterson: no, you drop yours.

Kepha moved closer and put the gun to his head.

Kepha: just say the word and he is down..

I looked at Peterson and remembered kepha's words while we were still in the car and I decided to bring him with us. We led both of them out with a gun on their heads and when we got to the car, we tied both their hands and mouths with tape and pushed them inside the car.

Me: take care of the house.

Kepha went back to the house, gas bombed it before rushing back to where we were. I took a video of the fire on my phone then We got in the car and drove off.

Me: you were right, this was a brilliant idea.

Do you think he will buy this without seeing his dead body?

Kepha: we still have a choice, we can shoot him and still show the evidence.

Peterson was trying to say something with the tape on his mouth but we ignored him. Sabina was in tears and kepha didn't understand why we had to drag her along. According to him, she was a liability and we were supposed kill her on the spot.

When we got to town, kepha offered us his servant quarter though his wife was not supposed to know what was going on. According to her, kepha had changed from being a criminal and didn't want anything to link him up with his past life.

He led us in through the back and left us to go and see his wife. I was to go to the main house later on as she had agreed that i stay with them till I got a place of my own.

After kepha left, i was left with Peterson and Sabina whose mouths were still taped. Peterson's phone rang just as I was about to un tape them but I decided to check who was calling first and maybe let Sabina tell them that Peterson had died hoping it was one of the people who had seen the fire.

When I checked the caller ID, it was Tom calling and my eyes grew wider as I looked at Peterson then back at the screen to confirm that it was indeed Tom calling.

I put the phone on silent mode then got my gun and walked up to Peterson' and pulled the tape off his mouth.

Me: why the hell is Tom calling you?

Peterson: it's because he wants to find out if am really dead.

Me: you knew about the arrangement?

Peterson: yes. I knew about the arrangement. I knew everything Henry i am not stupid.

That came in as a shock. Was I being played all along, why would Tom send me to kill Peterson if they were keeping in touch?

I put my gun in Peterson's mouth and held on to the trigger. I could see the fear in his eyes as he actually thought I would kill him. Sabina shook her head crying and I knew she was scared for her life not knowing what was really going to happen to them.

Me: do you know what Tom did?

I pulled out my gun from his mouth and stared at him hard before pacing across the room.

Me: that bustard had my daughter killed. He kidnapped my wife and blew up my house and you have known all along yet you never told me anything?

Peterson: you have no idea do you?

I turned and looked at him waiting for him to spill everything he knew.

Me: what are you talking about, idea about what?..

Peterson: did you ever ask yourself why I was the one who looked for you, found you and employed you?

My eyes grew narrower as I tried to figure out what he was really saying but didn't utter a word to him.

Peterson: who do you think would hire a goon without having some sort of an interest in them?

Me: a goon?

Peterson: come on, don't act like you don't know what am talking about.

Peterson's talk made me feel like there was more to this than i knew. So all along he knew who I had been in the past but why did he go through all that trouble, what did he know that I didn't and what did he really want from me?..

Me: that was my past, what I don't understand is what you know about it.

We were still talking when i got a text from kepha asking me to go to the main house and so without wasting time, I taped Peterson's mouth again, tied his feet with the tape and kept them away from each other lest they figured out a way to cut the tape and run off..

I locked the door, got out through the servant quarter gate and headed towards the main gate. I knocked and kepha came to open.

Kepha: everything okay with our guests?

Me: yeah.they are okay.

I lied because i didn't want to freak him out with the news i had jist found out..

We walked in and as usual I sad hi to Angie and after chilling for a while she served dinner. We talked as we had dinner and as usual she was the one giving the interesting stories as kepha and i laughed.

Angie: so where is your wife Henry, maybe sometime I can invite both of you for dinner. Sometimes kepha and I could use some married couple company and a good laugh..

Me: she is out of the country for business but that will be good of you.

I said looking at kepha who played along.

Kepha: honey, I was thinking that maybe we can have Henry stay in the Servant quarter for a while before he gets a new place.

Angie: sure baby, he can stay in there as long as he wants.

When we were done with dinner, kepha's wife got me some sheets and blankets and offered to go prepare the room for me but I declined telling her not to worry herself as I could take care of that. Kepha offered to help and he escorted me to the servant quarter and we got in and found our guest just as I had left them though Peterson's phone couldn't stop calling and after the call ended I checked and saw a text from Tom warning Peterson that I would strike any day so he should be careful. I showed the text to kepha as I had a seat and after he read the text he looked at me just as shocked as i had been when i learned the two idiots had been in communication.

Kepha: isn't this the same Ndege who sent you to kill him?

Me: apparently there is more to it. These two know each other.

Kepha: how?

Me: that's what I want to know.

I said as I scraped the tape off his mouth again.

Peterson: you are such a fool. Everything happened right under your nose and as intelligent as you are you couldn't figure it out...

Kepha: what is he talking about?

Me: I don't think he will give it to us straight but I know where to get the info.

I walked up to Sabina, pulled the tape off her mouth and put a gun to his head.

Peterson: what makes you think she will talk?

I didn't answer him but turned sabina's face towards mine.

Me: listen to me, do you want to live?

She nodded.

Me: good. I want you to tell me everything you know.

Peterson: Sabina don't!

Me: you can choose to listen to him and get a bullet in your head or tell me what I want to know and walk out of here free. This is called a silencer and with it, i can shoot you and it won't make any sound, no one will know what happened here. After killing you, I will carry you in the trunk then go and dump your body or better still set it on fire and no one will ever see you again or even find your body fir burial. So what is it going to be?

She looked at Peterson then took a deep breath..

Sabina: I will talk. I will tell you everything you need to know..

She said looking at Peterson briefly then at me.

Sabina: you killed their brother. You stormed into that house killed his brother and a fiance he had just introduced to the family. The lady was two months pregnant.

I turned and looked at Peterson then at kepha who was equally surprised and this seemed to have been a night of surprises. Even before we could find out who their brother was, kepha's wife came calling and we could hear her approach the room

Kepha: Damnit, she can't know they are here.

He said taping Peterson' mouth again and on attempt to save both their lives, Sabina screamed and imediatley they saw the door knob move as if the door was going to fly open any minute.....
