14 - In the Club

1751 Words
Entering the club with such a big group of people was one way to definitely get noticed. But luckily, Ansel was the one, who took the spotlight on himself, as most of the girls started just whispering things about him. Well, just looking at him, he was handsome. He never really cared much about his hair, yet it always looked effortlessly neat and just a bit messy. It was as if he only used his hands to brush it, and his fingers never touched a hair comb. The way he was dressing was just clean and not messy. It was your average neat but cool outfit, which looked like he did put some thoughts into wearing things. But knowing him ever since we were little, his dressing style was just about to take the first thing he saw in his closet. And his clothes were mostly bought by someone else, as he could just survive in a grey hoodie for years without even washing it. “Whoaaaa! They have the dancing stage here! Looking cool!” Cérise was all over dancing and enjoying the evening tonight. But the loud music and flickering lights in the dark made me feel like I had no energy left after today’s exercise at Ellena’s house. “I’ll go get you something to drink! What do you want?!” Ansel was shouting to make sure I heard him through my throbbing eardrums. The DJ here was seriously playing the music too loud. “One beer I guess! They’re known for beer here!” I shouted back. Ansel just gestured OK with his fingers and disappeared off to the bar, while I was left alone standing at the small round chest-height table. I checked my clothes once again. As I didn’t have the chance to unpack everything, I just grabbed the closest club-looking clothes I could find. Some white sneakers, white paperbag shorts, a black tank top, and a small golden purse. I didn’t really care about my hair, it was flowing around my naked shoulders. I could see Cérise having a lot of fun on the higher stage, going all crazy. Her light brown hair was all over the place, not even guys were trying to approach her in case she’d suddenly punch or kick them with the insane moves she was displaying. Watching her made me giggle as I had never seen her this crazy. “Here, your beer! It was insanely crowded!” Ansel was breathing down my neck, somebody even pushed him closer. This club was just too full of people down here. And nobody got us the VIP seats up in the boxes, which were much quieter and with fewer people. It was always better to go there to enjoy the atmosphere and dance with friends instead of being stuffed with others like canned sardines. “Thanks!” I shouted back at him as he put the big beer glass in front of me on the table. “Guys! You should come! It’s so much fun!” Cérise came like a tornado, looking completely parched, as she had managed to gulp half of my beer down her throat in a second. I took the glass from her and lifted it up, so she could see that I had stuff to do here. “Ansel, you’re going!” She instantly turned around to my brother, grabbed his arm, and started pulling him to the dancing stage. I only managed to quickly get his glass of beer before he had spilled it on the floor. “She’s seriously going crazy today!” A smile escaped my lips, seeing how much she was enjoying being here. It made me feel a bit more at ease compared to how I felt not even a day ago. I sighed and took a sip of the beer. It wasn’t bad, but it had too many bubbles in it. I looked around, checking who was even close to me. One person caught my eye. He was dressed very neatly, a denim-colored shirt with tiny white dots, which was tucked in his dark blue jeans with a chocolate belt and small golden buckle. He had his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, showing his good-looking forearms. The first few buttons of his shirt were undone. He was just looking straight hot. I was checking him out, from his longer darker caramel hair to his brown non-perforated Oxford shoes. A complete perfection… I caught myself staring for too long, so I instantly turned my head forward as I saw him turning his head in my direction. He had to sense that I was staring at him. Luckily, he didn’t catch me staring. “Hey! Not liking the beer? How about I buy you something better?” Some guy arrived right next to me. He was visibly a bit drunk, but still sane. “Thanks, I’m good,” I said without a single hint of care in my voice. “Come on! I’m buying! It’s free. I can buy you the most expensive drink here!” He wasn’t going to let it go, nor leave me alone. I slammed the beer glass back on the table, trying to show him I wasn’t going to give in. I was standing my ground. “Now, now… Don’t be mad! We’re here to have fun! So no bad feelings! I’ll buy you a drink or two, we dance, have fun…” His arm landed around my shoulders and his fingers were about to caress my face. Suddenly, the hand, which he wanted to caress me with, flew away from my face. “She said no, dude.” I heard a calm voice, which however sent a chill down my spine. I looked, who was speaking, as it definitely wasn’t Ansel. If it was my brother, this guy would probably get such a punch he would fly through the whole room, if not even breaking the wall from the impact. “What’s your problem! Piss off!” He tried getting his hand out of the grip. It was the guy, who I was staring at a while ago! He was looking all angry while trying to get rid of this nuisance. “Get lost.” The handsome hot guy hissed, not giving the psycho a chance to do anything else. He even pulled him away from me. Even though his arms didn’t look that muscular, he definitely had the strength in him. I was still standing there, completely speechless about what was happening around me. The guy, who I was staring at a good few minutes ago, was giving the drunk guy a killer look, while not losing his calm and cool composition. He was even dragging him through the crowd away from me, to probably kick him out of the club. I blinked a few times, drank nearly the whole second half of the beer to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. The whole club was moving at its own pace, loud music was playing, but to me, it felt like everything was happening in slow motion. The sounds were muffled as well. “Are you ok? I hope he’s not coming back again. I even told the bouncers to not let him in again.” He came back, hesitantly tucking his hands in the back pockets of his jeans. I was gobbling every single word he let out of his mouth, while everything around us started moving quickly and the music was annoyingly loud again. He still looked so stunning as before, but his facial expression changed. It was looking more friendly this time. Even his mouth was forming something that could be called a smile. “Yeah, everything’s fine. Thank you…” I couldn’t just take my eyes off of him. He gave me a big smile in return. His warm brown eyes made me feel like I could trust him right away. Given even how he got rid of that annoying guy before, he had to be a warm-hearted person. Or at least caring at that. “Ah, sorry… Daniel. I’m Daniel.” He stuck out his right arm expecting a handshake. “Zia,” I replied shortly, giving his hand a gentle squeeze as he did the same. And then we froze. He didn’t let go of my hand and I of his. We basically didn’t know what to do. “Sorry, really! I’m not a big party person… My friends just dragged me here by begging me and stealing my car keys.” He nervously scratched his nape as he quickly let go of my hand, his eyes looking away. “Ah, no, it’s ok!” I didn’t know what to say or how to start a conversation. I was at loss for words again, as we were just standing there like two idiots. “Oh, by the way, nice tattoo.” Daniel finally said something. I immediately hid my wrist behind me, as I was growing more and more concerned about the sigil on my wrist. “Ah, it’s not… Thank you, I guess… Daniel.” I was speaking like a robot that was running low on oil and everything was just getting stuck. I wanted to just disappear at this point. I was making a complete i***t out of myself by not even being able to speak like a normal person. “Dan is fine.” He came a bit closer as people were starting to push around us. The club was just too overcrowded. “Dan, ok.” I smiled, speaking like a toddler. “Zia, I would like to talk to you more, but I’m not sure…” Somebody bumped into him from the back, pushing him close to me. Dan even nearly tripped over the table, while my quick reflexes helped me save the glass. “If this club is a good place to do so!” Dan finally finished his sentence. I nodded. I completely agreed with him. It was too crowded and deafening here. And my vocal cords weren’t made to be shouting every single word. “What do you say about a coffee?” He was holding on to the table, as people kept pushing behind him. “Sure! I’d love to!” I shouted back. “Okay, ten minutes in front of the building! Let me get my car keys!” He smiled, leaving shortly after. Dan. I smiled, feeling over the moon that something like this was happening to me.
