Chapter 2
Cassiopeia’s pov
Everything is set, and I have now been introduced to the rest of the staff as Cassie, it’s not exactly an uncommon name, so no one relates it to the princess Cassiopeia. Besides, it is only people close to me that use my nickname, and I would prefer my beloved to use a real version of my name if he decides to reject me so it will stick.
I also look very different. The tanned skin, long dark hair, and green eyes are enough to stop anyone from recognising me even if my face is pretty much the same. The fact that my powers feel as weak as a kitten’s is also enough to stop anyone from looking too closely.
I am really digging my new look, I love my blonde hair and lilac eyes but, this is a nice change, I look quite exotic, and the Boho dresses are so colourful and comfortable, I love wearing them. It is nice to just be so casual and not have to worry about looking respectable as the future Queen.
I already know that the staff in the castle are lovely people, having spent many hours working with them throughout the years. I am happy to see that they were genuine with me and didn’t act differently because I was the princess.
They all have nothing but nice things to say about me and my family, as they talk about what it is like working here, and they go out of their way to make me feel comfortable. After two days with them, they have made me feel like a part of their little work family.
They were all upset when they were told that the other me had to go away for some secret training, and I would miss my own party. They didn’t think it was fair that I may miss the chance to meet my beloved and hoped that I would be back soon and meet the one destined for me.
They showed me the ropes, as I pretended not to know where everything was kept, and they were impressed with my experience and how I easily got on with the job despite my young age. It was nice not being a princess for a change.
I enjoyed working with them, and as we got on with work, we laughed and chatted all day. I was almost sorry that I would have to leave them soon with my beloved probably being at the party. Right now, I would rather stay with them than find out what is in store for me.
The castle looked absolutely amazing, decorated by us for the party, I knew that many people were coming and not just from the magical kingdom covens and vampire covens, but also from each species. The unmated ones are hoping to find mates or beloveds with a royal or another highly positioned member from a coven or pack.
The place would be packed by tonight, and it would be interesting to see how everyone acted towards me as a staff member as opposed to their future Queen. I know some people are just not as nice as they make out in front of certain individuals.
Marcus looked rather sullen as he entered the room, I knew he wanted to be beside me his twin as we celebrated our day, but for the first time, he couldn’t. If he was seen being too friendly to me, people would gossip and make sh.it up, as they had nothing better to do.
He tried to put on a smile and act happily, but he struggled. Well, at least until that lovely little red head Regina appeared, and he was happy to be beside her and Lilith for the night. I know he hopes he won’t find his beloved yet as he hopes it will be her. I hope so too, she is a special girl.
The more people that enter, the more relaxed he gets as he realises that none of them are his beloved. Unfortunately, he has to accept dances, so he doesn’t offend any coven leaders or alpha’s by refusing their daughters a dance. It’s a pain being a royal at times like this.
Me on the other hand, I am also happy that my beloved isn’t here yet, as the room is full of arrogant pr.icks and entitled bi.tches who act like me and the other staff are worse than sh.it on their shoes. You would think that they would learn from their leaders as most of the royals I know are much more respectful than these morons.
One coven leaders daughter, in particular, is really getting on my t**s. He father is well respected in the Vampire Kingdom and is a lovely and fair man, his beloved is a bit entitled, so their daughter obviously takes after her mother.
She is speaking to us all like dirt, getting us to run around after her like we are her personal slaves, and tells everyone who will listen about how the future Queen is her best friend. I am sorry, Catherine, but we are definitely not friends, I only put up with the girl for her fathers sake. We are barely acquaintances.
She is exactly the type of person I don’t want to be associated with, and frankly I am glad she is a vampire as she is the oldest daughter and I couldn’t imagine her being a coven leader. So, thank the goddesses she isn’t a witch.
Her brothers, on the other hand, are good men. Yes, they have played around like most vampires, and at 27 and 28 they haven’t met their beloveds yet that I have heard. They are discreet about it and are not nearly as bad as some vampires can be. Vampires have a big appetite for both s*x and blood, so it is not unusual for them to not wait on the one meant for them.
As long as they are faithful and true to their beloved when they meet them, they will still be accepted. They also don’t expect their beloved to be a virgin when they meet them like some men from the other species who have ridiculous double standards.
Personally I have waited on mine, but I have just turned 18 today, and would never sleep with someone until I was an adult, my dad and brother would probably kill the man for touching me before I came of age. I wasn’t in a rush to lose it either. If I still hadn’t met my beloved in a few years, I may have looked for pleasure from another, I don’t know, and that is why I don’t judge them.
Finally, an hour and a half into the party, I feel a pull to someone and turn around to make eye contact with none other than Jacob, one of our respected coven leaders son. He is quite handsome with his shaved sides and slightly longer on top blonde curls, and sparkling crystal clear blue eyes which flash showing me he is definitely my beloved.
After a look of disappointment that only lasts for a second, if I had blinked at the right time, I would have missed the look in his eyes. He then smiles and walks towards me, I am transfixed as he gives me a lazy, sensual smile and don’t hear that annoying woman having a mini tantrum for being ignored by me.
“Catherine dear, could you please stop screeching at my beloved? She no longer has to serve anyone” he says with a smile.
He is their only child, so he knows that if he want to be in charge of his parents' coven, he needs his beloved. The Queen, or should I say mum, would never stand for him rejecting his beloved and making a chosen mate the leader. The moon goddess chose the one she thinks are best for the job, and my parents respect that.
“What do you mean she is your mate, a servant can not be a coven leader, you can barely feel her magic it is so weak” Catherine says looking me up and down as if she has swallowed something sour.
“Enough Catherine, we may be friends, but I can’t have you disrespecting my beloved, especially not in front of everyone. You were brought up better than that dear” Jacob says, giving her a more affectionate look than he had given me.
“I apologise, I am just protective of my friend, he is like family, so I guess you are too, I shouldn’t have judged you like that” she says trying to act sweet, which she doesn’t pull off well.
Suddenly, we are surrounded by his family and my parents as Catherine has managed to draw in a crowd, and they are introducing themselves to me and welcoming me into the family. I am not sure about Jacob yet, but his family are at least nice. So I will give him a chance even if he is only acting happy about finding me.
