Miracle looks my way," Nayyirah what are your plans for the day?"
" Looking at the bodies. Do you want to come?"
" Heavens no," she waves me off.
" Good morning family and guests," Orissa and Pete walk in the dining room.
" Sebastian, when did you get in," she walks over to him.
" Last night," he grunts. Orissa and Pete sit next to him.
" Morning Princess Nayyirah," Orissa says.
"Morning princess," I nod. The table gets quiet as we eat.
"Where's mom and dad?"
" How should I know?"
" Seb, it's only morning. You don't need to act like that."
" And you don't need to be annoying like that," he mocks her. He has such a bad attitude, I shake my head.
"Why are you shaking your head," Sebastian turns his gaze on me.
" It's nothing," I stare Sebastian in the eyes.
" Sebastian, be nice to our guest," Queen Samaria walks in.
" Yes mother," he goes back to eating his breakfast. She sits at the head of the table," where's dad?"
" He's talking to some council members. He'll be here shortly." After a few minutes Miracle starts talking," what is everyone's plans for the day?"
" Me and Pete are going to the mountains," Orissa gushes.
"That sounds like fun. What about you sister?"
" Going to the next village over to speak with our people."
" That sounds good. What about you Sebastian?" He grunts then gets up from the table. His attitude really sucks, I finish my food.
I look at Ryan and Noah to see if they are done as well. I stand up from the table," breakfast was delicious but we have to go.''
" That's right, there's a guard outside the room that will take you."
" Thank you," we walk outside the dining room, spotting the guard standing next to the door," follow me." He leads us down the hall and out the castle. We walk across the bridge to the path into the village. The fiary folks are quite lively. They sing and play their instruments while others fly and walk over the small street.
" The morgue is in the basement of the hospital." I nod my head as we follow him through the streets. We stop at a grey stone building with a red wooden door. The guard walks in with us following behind. The little waiting room is empty. He walk over to the front desk.
A red haired fairy sits behind the desk looking through some papers.
" How can I help you sweet," she asks, looking up.
" Is there someone in the morgue?"
" Tim should be down there," she stares at the guard.
" Thanks," he moves away from the desk, leaving her cheeks matching her hair. We walk to the end of the hallway going through a door. We walk down the dimly lit steps going through another door. Cold air hits my skin, sending a chill up my arms. A short man with light blue hair sticking everywhere in a white lab coat sits at a desk. A tall man hovering over him," I need to see the bodies."
" P-prince Sebastian, I'm only authorized to show it to the immortal princess."
" Well good thing I'm here," I step in front of everyone. Sebastian gives me a heated look.
" Princess," the other fairy gets up bowing.
" You don't have to do that."
" Yeah she's not a real princess." I look over at Sebastian," what did you say?" He smirks walking past me," princess, just ignore him,"Noah tells me.
"This way to the bodies," we follow the doctor to the back room.
" What made me rule this an immortal attack was," he goes to the wall and grabs a handle pulling it out.
" Marty has very precise markings on the back of his neck.
" He turns his neck showing the three tiny holes on the base of the neck.
" What was injected into him?"
" A natural toxin that slowly shuts the organs down." I nod my head," where was he found?"
" In his bed at home." The shadow needed information from him. That's why the slow kill.
" You mind pulling the cover down," the doctor pulls it back. I move closer to the body, seeing faint discoloration.
" Can you tell me what that's from," I point to Marty's wrist.
" I'm thinking that he was restrained for a while then he was untied when the toxin kicked in." I examine the body for a few more minutes before I pull the cover over him then the doctor pushes him back into the wall.
" Now the other body is something else," the doctor walks a few steps back. He pulls the other body out and pulls the cover back.
" She was surrounded by fairy dust and a large amount of it." I look closer at her, the short pixie cut and full lips. The doctor pulls the cover back," she was sliced across her torso.
" Three slashes go from her left shoulder across her body to her right hip. This gotta be the shadow.
" Was there anything else found out?"
" Yes, with the amount of fairy dust that was used. We can say that the person she was fighting could be hurt or wounded." I nod my head," thank you." The doctor covers the body up," fairy dust. Can you tell me more about it?"
"I wouldn't be the ideal person to tell you about it." He pushes the body back into the wall," who would," he nods his head to the left.
I turn in that direction as Sebastian leans against the wall. Why this asshole? You need answers and he got them. I roll my shoulders and walk over to him," can you tell me about fairy dust?"
"Why would I tell you?"
" It will help this investigation."
" No," I squeeze my hands into fist. He's getting on my nerves, he walks past me.
" I'll tell you all the information that we found out and you can be a part of the investigation. I turn around, " that wasn't so hard, little warrior." My eyes twitch, "don't call me that."
" I can't call you a princess. You're not much of that so little warrior it is," he smirks.
" And I can't call you much of a prince so you'll be a red haired goblin," I smile. Sebastian's smirk fell," thank you again for the information," I look over at the doctor.
I walk pass Sebastian to the stairwell.
"Can we see the spots where the bodies were found?"
" Yes princess," the guard says. We walk out of the hospital," Marty's house is closer." The guard leads us back through the fairy street. I watch as the children run and play. Shooting fairy dust into the air making fireworks. We stop at a row of little cottages," his house is the yellow one," the guard points at the house in the middle that's taped up. He rips the tape off and opens the door. The living room has a small sofa and chair in front of the fireplace.
" He was found in his bedroom."
"Okay," walking around downstairs not seeing anything unusual. We go upstairs to the bedroom.
A chair sits in the middle of the floor with black rope on the floor around the chair.I bend down picking it up and rub my fingers across it.This is definitely an assassin's rope. I let it go then walk over to the disheveled bed. I check around it and under it not seeing anything. I check the window to see that it's unlocked. That's probably how it got in.
" Where was the second body found?"
" By the pound," the guard leads us out of the house. We walk the streets again to the edge of the village into the forest. The beauty of the forest leaves my awe as we pass flowers.
" Here is where she was found," he stops at the base of a huge tree. I squat down looking around. I place my hand on the roots of the tree.
