Chapter 2 Airport antics Maggie We had to wake up at four o’clock which is early. I woke up to see Nate and Pat staring at us. I pushed on Nash to wake him, but he held me tighter and mumbled incoherently. “Um, Nash?” “Mm?” “We have company.” “Five more minutes, Ma.” Pat picked up a pillow and smacked him, causing him to wake up. “What the hell, Mags?” I pointed at Nate and Pat. “Oh, hey, Ma and Dad.” They both had their arms crossed, looking none too, please. “Get up and get ready. We’ll discuss your bedroom antics later.” Nate walked out of the room. Pat shook her head as she followed Nate. I smacked Nash. “What?” “Oh, gee, I don’t know. You snuck into my bedroom last night, and now we’re in deep shit.” “Yeah, but we weren’t doing anything.” “But they don’t know that!” I jumped out of bed and got dressed. Nash went to his room and changed. I can see it now, a lecture from hell from Nate and Pat. After we got ready, everyone carried their luggage downstairs and loaded the cars. It’s too early to leave for a trip. I’ll sleep in the car on the way to the airport. ***** We drove until we reached our destination. It was not any destination but Detroit Metro Airport. Oh, s**t! I hate flying. We flew to Mexico, and I thought we would crash. I walked into the airport, and we checked our bags. I was not too fond of this idea. Once we checked in, I sat in a seat and panicked. “Maggie, are you okay? You don’t look so good,” Noah said. “She looks as white as a ghost,” Nathan said. Ugh, I wanted to hurl. “Mags?” I stared at Nash wide-eyed. “What’s wrong with her?” Carson asked Nash. “She hates flying. I’ll get her something to calm her nerves. Can you guys watch her?” “Yeah, sure,” Nathan said. Nash got up to get me something to soothe my nerves. “Man, she looks like she’ll hurl,” Nathan said. “Hey, Cody! Come here!” Carson said. “What?” Cody asked. “Come here, you dolt!” Cody walked over. “What?” “Hey, did you have any of that stuff to help you with flying?” “Yeah, why?” “Because Maggie needs something.” “Fine. I’ll get my meds from Ma.” He went to find Dominique. “What’s he getting?” Nathan asked Carson. “It’s something for anxiety. Cody takes it when he flies. It’ll help Maggie relax.” Cody walked up to his mom. “Hey, Ma. I need those anti-anxiety pills.” “They’re in my carry-on.” She pointed to her bag. Cody picked up the bag and grabbed a bottle. He opened it up, took out a pill, replaced the lid, and tossed the bottle back into her purse. Then, he walked back over to us and handed me a tablet. “Here, this pill should help.” “What is it?” I asked him. “It’s anti-anxiety medicine for flying. It’ll help you relax.” Oh, what the heck? Why not? What harm could it do? I popped the pill, and the boys handed me a bottle of water. I swigged the water and swallowed the medication. The medicine took a few minutes, but my body relaxed, then I saw darkness. ***** Carson “What the hell did you give her?” I asked Cody. Everyone stared at Maggie comatose. “One of my flying pills. Why?” “Dude, she looks like she’s in a coma,” Nathan said. “What did you give her?” Noah asked Cody. “A pill that I take for flying.” “Are you sure?” “Positive.” “Get the bottle,” I said. “Fine.” Cody got the bottle of pills to show us. Nixon walked by and stopped. “What’s up with her?” “Cody gave her a pill to help relax her,” I said. “Relax? Hell, she looks like she’s comatose.” Cody walked back over and handed the bottle to me. “Here.” I sighed in frustration. “These aren’t your flying pills, you i***t. They’re Ma’s tranquilizers!” Nixon, Nathan, and Noah's eyes widened. “Nash will kill you,” Nixon said. “It was an honest mistake,” Cody said. “Mistake? Dude, she can’t fly like this! They’ll never let her board!” “What will we do?” I asked. “I don’t know, but Nash is coming,” Noah said. “And there goes the neighborhood,” Nathan said. Nash walked up and saw Maggie passed out. “What the hell is wrong with her?” “She’s taking a catnap,” Cody said. He crouched and tried to wake Maggie, but she wasn’t budging. She was out cold. He turned to us. “Catnap? She’s out cold. What the hell did you guys do to her?” “Nothing, except give her the wrong pills.” Cody winced. “What?” “It was an accident. I went to get my flying pills and grabbed my Ma’s tranquilizers by mistake.” He stood up. “How do you give someone the wrong pill by mistake? Why would you give a person any pills to start? Never mind, don’t answer that.” “Nash, we have to wake her before they think she’s on something,” Nixon said. “No s**t, Sherlock. She is on something!” “So, now what?” Noah asked. “Get Dad, and don’t tell anyone else.” Noah left to get Uncle Nate as we stared at Maggie. Yep, this situation would be fun. ***** Nash Dad stood with his arms crossed and his head in his hand. “Who thought of this excellent idea?” Everyone pointed at Carson. “Hey, I said a flying pill, not a tranquilizer,” he said. “Can I help it if my brother is an i***t?” “Yes!” We spoke. He shrugged. “What will we do?” I asked. “We need to get her moving. Grab her arm, Nash, and I’ll grab her other arm.” So Dad and I lifted Mags. “Man, she’s a dead weight.” I grunted. “Well, if someone gave you a tranquilizer, you would be dead weight, too.” We moved Mags and got her mobile while trying to avoid the others. But, unfortunately, we weren’t having any luck. She was still out cold, and we were still trying to wake her. We set me down. “Now what?” I asked. As we tried to figure out what to do, a voice announced that it was time to board our flight. “Great,” Dad said. “I have an idea. Has anyone seen the movie Weekend at Bernie’s?” Nathan asked us. “Yeah, why?” Dad asked him. Nathan and Noah smirked. ***** “I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Dad said. We finished tying Mags’ ankles to ours. We already tied her wrists to ours and put a pair of sunglasses on her. “Well, it’s this, or Ma will kill Cody,” Nixon said. “Although, I’m not sure if that idea isn’t so bad.” “Nixon!” “Do you disagree?” “Later. Let’s get Maggie on board.” Dad and I stood with Mags. “Wow, this reminds me of when we had to bound and gagged her.” Nathan earned looks from Nixon, Noah, and me. “What do you mean you had to bound and gagged her?” Dad asked him. “Nash wanted kink.” Nixon clicked his tongue and winked. I rolled my eyes. “Remind me to talk to you later,” Dad told me. “Yeah, and remind me to beat Nix’s ass later.” As we walked Mags to the gate, Nixon smacked the back of Nathan’s head. We walked up with Mags. “What’s wrong with Maggie? Why is she like that?” Ma asked. “Oh, this? We’re practicing using a human marionette. Isn’t that right, Maggie?” Dad asked. I pulled on a string, and her head nodded. Ma opened her mouth. Dad said, “Will you look at that? It’s time to board the plane.” We hurried Mags through the gate and took her to her seat. “What’s up with Nathaniel?” Cayson asked Ma. “He’s your brother. Something is always up with him.” She entered the gate and found her seat. Once everyone found their seats, Dad and I untied Mags. Nixon switched spots with Dad. “Now we won’t worry about her flipping out on the plane and getting us kicked off of it,” Nixon said. “Oh, yeah, since I’m into kink so much.” “I thought it was a suitable cover.” “And you’re a tool.” I reached over Mags and smacked Nixon. The plane rolled down the runway and ascended into the air. Midway through the flight, Mags woke up. When she realized what had happened, her eyes widened, and so did ours. Mags sat in my seat, bound and gagged, and flew that way the rest of the flight. We wouldn’t have to worry about her flipping out. Wait until we land. Paybacks are a b***h.
