Winter in that part of the country could be brutal. Cold weather and big snows coming off the Great Lakes made life for Sam and William, tasked with out-of-doors farm chores, more difficult. They’d turned in their cloaks for more traditional outdoor winter wear. The one-piece Carhartts over flannel shirts and heavy jeans, and boots were cumbersome. This and the cold weather restricted serious love-making to William’s cell at night, as stolen moments in freezing barns were not exactly satisfying.
However, regularly using William’s cell as their love nest increased William’s feeling that somehow doing it in this holy place was not quite right. But they had no other place to go.
