Chapter 7The solemnity of evening prayer was lost on William that night. To him the chants were odes to joy, and the prayers, poems of happiness. Yet, the sense of anticipation lingered. Something more was coming, he could feel it. When? Was he the one to initiate it…whatever it was? His physical closeness to Samuel was almost unbearable all through the service as well as during supper.
