Spare me.

1090 Words
**Believe in yourself** I'm having trouble blinking because I'm standing next to a cemetery. I've never seen this cemetery before, so I'm assuming it's an abandoned one. It was dark and quiet. I decided to call those who had requested that I drop the pie here, but their numbers were not reachable. I tried calling my boss as well, but it was the same. It was almost as if there was no service in the area. I exhale, debating whether to drop the pie. Beside, it's possible that those who ordered the pie gave me the wrong address, because dropping a Lemon Meringue Pie beside a cemetery means... I can't even bring myself to say about what I'm thinking. It was a graveyard for various people, and each person's name was written on a stone. "Cover me with your blood, Lord." I prayed, and then I began unloading all of the pie from the vehicle. Because there are so many of them, it was a massive task for me to complete. After successfully offloading the entire box of three hundred pies, I decided to take a break. I can't just leave here, and my boss hasn't been paid in full yet, so he definitely needs his balance. I exhale. After waiting for thirty minutes, I decided to call the number on the card, but to no avail. Leaving a pie in front of a different cemetery is too dangerous. What if someone comes to the cemetery to pay their respects to their loved ones and accidentally steps on the pies? I pondered. I waited another thirty minutes, bringing the total to one hour. I received a call just as I was about to enter the van to get a bottle of water. Taking my phone from my pocket, I realize it's my Boss. "Hey Emery, where are you now?" My boss enquired. "I'm standing next to a cemetery." I replied honestly. My boss became quiet. "What do you mean you're standing next to a cemetery?" He questions me, sounding both cold and concerned. "That's where the address on the card leads. I've been waiting for those who ordered the pies to show up, but they're nowhere to be found." I replied, and what I had just said is the simple truth. My boss became quiet once more. "But they called me an hour ago and said they had already paid you." My boss stated, It's now my turn to be quiet. Nobody had called, let alone paid me. "They're deceiving you. I'm waiting for them and haven't seen anyone. They have not paid me." I stated, hoping that my boss would believe me. This is exactly why I didn't want to get involved with those who had come to order all of these pies. I have a bad feeling about all of them. "Emery!" My boss called out my name, and I responded. "Yes, boss." I said. "Are you sure you're not lying?" He asked, and I nodded. I didn't hear any words from my boss, and that's when I realized he's still waiting for my response because he can't tell whether I nod or not. "I'm not lying, boss," I declare. Mr. Matthew exhales. "Since you haven't seen anyone, please return the Lemon Meringue Pie to the bakery. We'll sell them tomorrow." He explained. "Alright. I'm going to start reloading all the pies inside…" I couldn't finish my statement because the line abruptly disconnected. "Hello!" I yelled, but the phone had been disconnected. I attempted to call my boss's phone number again, but my phone suddenly lost service. That explains why the line became disconnected. I decided to put all of the pies back inside the van. The weather does not appear to be cooperative, and it appears that it is about to rain. I had just returned a hundred and fifty Lemon Meringue Pies to the van when I noticed another van approaching from a distance. I was initially pleased because I believe those in the van approaching are the ones who ordered the pie. When the van was no longer far away, I became terrified. I dash to the front of my own van to hide. Despite the fact that everything is dark, I can tell that those approaching have armed weapons in their hands. A hand is brought outside the car, and the owner of the hand is currently holding a gun. I was terrified. What have I gotten myself into? 'Take control, Lord.' I prayed inwardly. Finally. The moving van came to a halt. "What a successful operation." A man's voice declared. Only his eyes can be seen through the man's black mask. Seeing him reminded me of yesterday delivery, which I did for a small company. At the time, I was told to place the box of Lemon Meringue Pie on the floor, and immediately after I left the pie, a man driving a car climbed the pie with his car tyre. I swallow hard. That man was wearing a black scarry face mask, similar to the guy who had just stepped out of the car that is front of me. "I love today's operation, and did you see how I killed him with my knife?" said another. "Hahaha! I like how you did it. You stab his throat with finesse." Another voice declares. I'm currently hearing the voices of three different people, and hearing them say that they killed someone by the throat means that they intend to bury that person inside this cemetery. Four men stepped out of the car, all dressed in black, with a black mask and a gun beside them. "Let's take care of this lady." Another man declares. Gush. So they've been talking about a dead lady the whole time? I ponder because I thought they were referring to a man, due to their previous statement. My knee immediately felt weak, and I began to pray. Two men entered the car, carrying a lady. The lady had blood all over her body, and her head wasn't attached to her body. "Arrhhhhh!" I find myself screaming, but I later regret it. All the men shift their gaze to my van, so I stepped out of my hideout without allowing them to say anything. "Please don't kill me," I begged, raising both hands in the air. "Who are you?" they ask authoritatively. "I'm... I'm a delivery guy," I stutter, tears streaming down my face, my leg shaking, but they did something that make me realize how cruel this life is.
