Chapter Three - Too Close

Daphnes POV It had been a couple of weeks now since the announcement of my arranged marriage to Gabriel. Our people weren't sure how to feel about it. Sure they were happy that they wouldn't be hunted anymore but at the same time we were letting out enemies stay in the castle with us. Today my mother and I were going to a seamstress so we could start making my dress. I had decided to do what Gabriel had suggested and went with a form fitting dress. It was a satin material with thing straps that went over my shoulders. They connected to a sweet heart neck line which accentuated my breasts. Then from the knees the dress flared out. It took some time getting used to walking in it but eventually I figured out when I moved a foot forward I had to kick out a little bit. I walked out of the dressing room for the final fitting and of course my mother wasn't there. She was probably in an aisle looking for different shoes or something. I looked down smoothing the dress out when I heard Gabriels voice behind me. "I knew you'd look like perfection in a dress like this" He said. My head snapped up and a big smile crept onto my face. "You aren't supposed to see the bride in her dress you know, it's bad luck" I said turning around to face him. "We make our own luck" He said with a nonchalant shrug of his shoulder before making his way to me. We weren't in love....yet but I could see it happening with Gabriel oddly enough. He was always so kind and gentle with me. "You truly do look amazing though" He said giving me a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you" I said while blushing. "Oh look you are truly a blushing bride" my mother said as she came back with a pair of shoes. "Hello Gabriel" My mother said giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Queen Isabella you are looking vary radiant today as well" He said. "Oh come now" Mother said waving him off. "Did you need help with anything?" She asked. "Now I was hoping to ask my fiance to have a meal with me" He said looking back to me with a hopeful smile. "I'd love too" I replied. "Excellent I'll pick you up from your room at midnight" He said with a small bow before he disappeared. Once the fitting was done I went back to my room for a nap since I was going to be out all night with Gabriel. Around ten at night I woke up and got ready for my date. I took a quick shower and braided my hair. I chose a pink baby doll style dress that had small puffy sleeves. I was slipping on my white flats when I heard a soft knock at my door. With a smile I opened to see Gabriel looking amazing. He stood there in black slacks with a silky green dress shirt that was opened enough to see the muscles of his chest. "Daphne you look beautiful as always" He said kissing the knuckles on my hand. "Thank you as do you" I said taking the arm he had offered me. "So what meal did you want to invite me to?" I asked him as we made our way down the hall. "Well I thought we could have some breakfast. I have a plan for after but I'll wait until after we eat" He said.  We made our way to the dining room where there were plates filled with eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, everything you could imagine. "This all looks fantastic!" I said. "I'm glad you like it" He said pushing my chair in behind me. He took a seat across from me and we each piled our plates full of food. "So has everyone in the castle been treating you well" I asked him. "Yes everyone has been very welcoming thank you" He said. I took a sip of orange juice and caught him staring at me. "What do I have cheese on my face?" I asked him wiping away at my chin. He chuckled shaking his head, "No you are just so beautiful" He said. I blushed at his compliment and his smile grew. Once we were finished we walked around the castle grounds for a bit. Of course Jefferson and a couple other guards were following us to be safe. "I never noticed how beautiful it is out here" I said. "Well that probably because you're usually sleeping" Gabriel said with a laugh. "True" I said turning back to my kingdom. The bright moon light lit up every street perfect and it highlighted Gabriels features perfectly. His blonde hair looked almost silver in the moonlight and it showed just how angular his face actually was. He felt my eyes on him as he turned to me and pulled me close to his body. "Now for the second part of our evening I need to ask your permission" He said rubbing his thumb on my cheek as he held it in his hand. "Permission for what?" I asked him staring into his eyes. "To feed on you" He said. His response had shocked me so that it brought me back to reality. "I'm sorry you want to what?" I asked trying to take a step back. "I was to feed on your just a little bit, I would like to walk around in the sun light with you" He said bringing my eyes back to his. "I don't know Gabriel" I said hesitantly. "I promise I won't take too much and your guards will be right here" He said motioning to the fairy men behind him. I looked to Jefferson who was shaking his head no but I turned my eyes to Gabriel again who looked hopeful and sincere. "Alright" I said. I moved my long braid to the side and tilted my head as well. Gabriel brought my head back up and pulled me close to his body. Gabriel brought me into a sweet and tender kiss which caused my heart to race. The sounds seemed to drive him on as the kiss turned sensual and desperate. He slipped his tongue into my mouth and explored it like the grandest cave. I moaned softly into the kiss as my finger tangled into his hair. His soft lips trailed down my jaw to my neck as the sun started to break through the night sky. Once he was at his desired spot on my neck and gently tilted my head to the side as his free hand cupped my back side causing me to gasp. He gave a firm squeeze as his fangs sank into my neck causing me to moan loudly. My eyes fluttered close as he drew my blood into his mouth. After a few draws of my blood I tried to step away but his grip on me tightened. "Gabriel that's enough" I said but only got a growl in response. I was starting to feel a little weak as he continued to drink from me. "Gabriel please stop" I said I cried out. Jefferson and my guards were there in an instant with silver daggers touching his skin with a sickening sizzling sound. This caused him to let me go as I collapsed into Jefferson's arms. I looked up at Gabriel with blurred vision as his now red eyes began to fade back to his normal blue. "f**k I am so sorry Daphne!" He said rushing back to myself. Gabriel pricked his finger with one of his fangs and rubbed his blood on my neck wounds. "I will never ask for this again Princess" He said before stepping away from me. "Take her to her room and make sure she eats a lot of iron enriched foods" Gabriel instructed Jefferson who flew me away to my room. He placed me in my bed and tucked me in before shutting the curtains in my room so I could rest. "Daphne don't ever do that again do you hear me!" He yelled. I barely nodded my head in response before he walked out the door to get me some food. "I'm serious that was too close" He said before shutting the door. I tried to stay awake so I could eat once the food arrived but darkness drew me into a long slumber.
