Serenity walked out of the tented area within the castle walls. This was where she had grown up her whole life, but looking at the state it was in now hurt. This was always a happy place, but it was a mere shambles of what it had been. She walked inside of the castle, looking at the destruction around her.
“Who goes there?” A guard called out.
Serenity looked over to see a guard heading towards her. She recognized him as one of their palace footman. “It’s Serenity.” She called back. She watched as he stopped where he was standing and was looking noticeably uncomfortable. Serenity smiled sadly to herself. Of course, word had spread about what had happened earlier today. “Are you afraid of me?” She called out softly.
The soldier immediately straightened up and bowed to her. “Of course not
