“I don’t know that I hate you.” Lily was babbling unintelligibly as if she was talking in her sleep.
“Why do you hate me?” Lucas tried to keep her talking and not fall asleep.
“I hate that you bully me. I hate that you make me sad, very sad.” Her voice started to taper off.
“That’s good. At least you hate me rather than not feeling anything,” Lucas said softly. He also started to feel drowsy and drifted off to sleep.
