My Only Exception

Tobias's P.O.V I wake up in the early morning just before Sunrise as I do every morning. Since it is still dark I quickly light a lantern, however with my sharpened vision I can see quite well even in the dark. I live in the cabin in the middle of the woods alone. I have isolated myself from others because the humans have hunted my kind to almost Extinction. We used to have packs full of the elders and children.Then the first humans came, and they were afraid of us. Even though we've never hurt anyone. They came and they hunted us and took us out one by one. But I have come to terms with the fact that I will Live in this cabin isolated alone until my dying days. I have to go to into the Village today, I hate going into the village. But unfortunately I needed some supplies that I couldn't do without. I make sure why it is still early in the morning to hunt so my beast can feed, so that way my instincts are under control when I enter the village. I've managed to hunt a small deer that should help satisfy my urges and keep me satisfied to my next feeding. Finally when the sun is high in the sky I set off to the Village. It doesn't take me long get there at all with my inhuman speed but I make sure to slow it down as I approached the village, so that way the humans won't be suspicious of me. The village is crowded my beast hated crowds but I kept him at bay. however something was off with my beast this time he was on edge for some reason and I didn't know why. Quickly I made my way to the fur Merchant to exchange my pelts for some coins. The sooner I got this done the sooner I can get out of here. my Beast was pacing in my mind as I impatiently waited for the merchant to appraise my pelts. After what seems like centuries he placed a coin bag in front of me I quickly snatched it. I made my way through the village stopping at various stands purchasing my items that I needed. As I continued through the village I caught a scent that was alluring to me. It smelt so sweet I couldn't help but follow it. I followed it till eventually it brought me to a stand where they were selling baked goods, however the sent wasn't coming from the product they were selling. There was an old woman working the stand and with her a young woman. As soon as the young woman looked up and her beautiful doe eyes met mine, I spoke the words I never thought I would ever say I never thought I deserved to say......"MATE." I whisper to myself. Obviously she was human so she didn't feel it. I couldn't believe it I was looking at my mate the other part of my soul. She was breathtaking. she had long brown hair that was braided in the single braids. Her skin was Olive colored. The most beautiful crystal blue eyes I've ever seen. Her lips looked so soft I just wanted to devour them. I guess she was about 5' 7". She was wearing a simple brown dress, Nothing extravagant but she made it look amazing. I was torn on what to do. Here I was looking at my other half and yet I couldn't claim her. That would put her in danger. But I also knew now that I have found her my beasts would not rest. Maybe I can satisfy him by watching her from afar that way I know she's alright and safe. I couldn't help it I had to go over there and at least find out her name to hear her voice. I approached the stand cautiously trying to keep my beast under control, he yearned to snatch her and take her far away. I pretended to be interested in the loaves of French bread that were displayed. " May I help you with anything?" her sweet Heavenly voice rang out. I couldn't speak at first I was transfixed by her. " Sir?" she spoke again. " Sorry how much for this loaf of bread?" my voice came out raspier than normal I sounded parched. " That'll be 3 silver coins." I handed her a gold coin. " keep that extra for yourself." " Thank you sir but I really can't do that, that's too kind." She tries to hand the coin back to me. " I insist that you keep it." " Well thank you kind sir." she said finally giving in. " What is your name if you don't mind me asking I've never seen you before?" " My name is Skyla. Today is my first day helping my grandmother sell our Goods she says I'm finally old enough now that I'm an adult." I repeat her name in my head it is the most beautiful name I have ever heard fitting for the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. " And what is your name kind sir if I may ask?" " Tobias."
