Was the man deliberately avoiding Eduard? It would seem so. After a quick meal, Eduard retraced his steps from the night before and once again found Reza’s room empty. The bed was made, the sheets clean and new, giving the room an unlived-in appearance. Cautiously, Eduard crossed to the bed; when no servants interrupted him, he sat on the edge of the mattress and smoothed one hand over the top coverlet. With a furtive look around, he leaned over and pressed his face to the plump pillow. The man’s smell lingered in the sheets, a musky, sensual scent that roused Eduard’s libido. He buried his face in the pillow, breathing in deep, as if he could somehow capture the scent and trap it inside him. It hungered him. After a long moment, he sat up. Smoothed out the creases on the coverlet. P
