Chapter 5

Third Person’s POV            The night before, John Williams hurried out of his car and walked towards the Imperial Tower, the most well-known 6-star hotel in Area A.           'This can’t be. Why did the Master call for me?', he thought.          'They didn’t discover my transactions did they?' he stopped in his tracks suddenly becoming more anxious.           'No of course not. I made sure to cover my tracks well. There’s no way they could have discovered it at all!' he assured himself while he continued to walk to the elevator.         He went inside the elevator as soon as it opened and pressed the button to the 50th floor, the penthouse where the Master will be waiting for him.            Still anxious, he fiddled with his fingers. He took out his handkerchief from his back pocket and wiped the beads of sweat forming on his forehead despite the high air conditioning. The ride seemed so long and it is making him more fidgety by the second.            “So why would the Master personally ask for me and more so, why ask to meet me on his home?” he asked himself knowing full well that the master never made any direct contact to any of the regular employees like him.           As far as he knew, none of the board of directors had seen his shadow more so his face. Everything is dealt with by his assistant, Mr. Waze.           He was still consumed by his thoughts when the elevator stopped. He stepped out and was startled when he bumped into someone.   He looked up to see a stern-looking man in front of him.           “Dr. Williams.” The man nodded in acknowledgment.   John’s eyes grew in recognition. Abruptly he bowed his head realizing it was Mr. Waze.            “Mr. Waze, good evening! I’m sorry I wasn’t looking to where I’m going.”           The tall man cleared his throat before speaking. “It’s alright, now please follow me. The master is expecting you.” He said in a clear monotonous voice. He then walked ahead. John followed him silently behind, partly keeping his head down.         They went past a dimly lighted corridor and stopped by a massive door, intricately designed with golden carvings of what appears to be demons.           John’s eyes widened at the view before him. The door alone must be worth a fortune! He can’t stop himself from running a finger in the carvings. He had never been on this floor before and didn’t think anyone else from the companies under the Master had either, except of course the man in front of him.           John suddenly felt excited, he’s worried temporarily forgotten. Why not when he knew what great honor it is to be invited to the Master’s home.           Before his mind wandered off to more possibilities, he heard Mr. Waze cleared his throat again.           “This way Dr. Williams.” He tried to conceal his excitement and followed Mr. Waze silently through the now opened door, but he was surprised with the total darkness in the room after the door behind them closed.         It took a while before his vision adjusted to the pitch black surrounding. He tried to roam his eyes around. From the dark-colored walls and heavily curtained windows and glass panels. He noticed he was standing beside a sofa, a 100-inch flat-screen TV hanged by the wall on his right. This must be the receiving area. He looked ahead and noticed a countertop that must be where the kitchen is. Beside it is a round staircase that must lead to the rooms. There were a couple of displays of figurines all over the house but he can’t make out what they looked like through the darkness. A couple of paintings also hanged by the walls.            “Dr. Williams, the master is waiting at the study. I believe we should not keep him waiting.” John was startled with Mr. Waze’s voice on his left. ‘This guy moves quite stealthily,’ he thinks.           “Yes of course!” He said abruptly. “But- M-Mr. Waze, would you perhaps know why the Master would be calling for me and at this time?”           “I do not question my Master's decisions. If he called for you even as you sleep, you are expected to hear his summons. For the reason, I believe it is not for me to tell.” He answered coldly while his blue orbs looked straight to my eyes as if reading my mind.           “Ah, yes, of course, we shouldn’t question the Master.” John awkwardly smiled. He placed his hand on his side while he bobbed his head up and down. Because of that, he failed to see a mysterious glint in the assistant’s eyes before they headed to the study.            Mr. Waze went to open a door on the left and gestured John to come in. Reluctantly, John stepped inside looking back to see Mr. Waze now closing the door behind them.          Through the faint light of the moonlight, and the city lights penetrating in the glass panels in front of him, he saw the left side of the room filled with books.            “Dr. John Williams.” a deep but melodious voice came from somewhere in the room. John startled back when he saw golden orbs intently looking at him. A closer look showed the silhouette of the man sitting comfortably on the sofa at the right side of the room, his arms resting on the armrest while his long legs are crossed. He can tell he is a big man. He probably stood a good head more than his 6 ft height.         He was proven right when the man stood in one fluid motion. This man seemed to let off a dangerous aura, yet John can’t seem to look away. He watched him walk gracefully from the sofa to the glass panel. The man stood there seemingly basking in the moonlight.         Then it dawned him.         “M-master!” He gasped. He bowed half of his body down. His whole body trembled with just the sight of him.
