Tessa’s POV
“s**t Tess, this is all real. I can’t… Tess, I want to be with you, more than anything, but I can’t even think straight. I mean, I just found out that I’m a princess, that my parents aren’t really my parents, and I’m supposed to be marrying some prince. Can we just, put this on hold for a while until I figure everything out?” With that, I could physically feel my heart break. It was like someone took a sledge hammer to a piece of glass and those glass pieces scattered through my skin. I plastered a faint smile on my face. I couldn’t put Callie in that position to choose me over all of this. I had to support her. Maybe then she would see that we were meant to be.
“Cals, you know I’m going to be here for you every single step of the way, right?” I took a deep breath in, trying to keep the tears in my eyes from falling and that smile on my face. She was still sitting on the counter; her head was down, and her hair was covering her face. I grabbed her lightly by the chin and pulled her face up, so she was looking at me. Callie looked up at me with her big blue eyes. There were tears streaming down her face, but she had a smile on.
“I love you Tessie. But I need to find out who I am before I want to start anything serious with you. You deserve the best of me. Just give me some time to figure this out. Until then, just don’t give up on me. Please?” It felt like she was asking me to show her that even without the title of being my girlfriend, she was. The tears on her face were flowing from her eyes. I nodded. I wasn’t going to let this stop me.
“Of course, baby. I’ve waited this long. We’ve been through hell. Just, no promises I won’t get jealous about this whole prince thing. That’s going to be hard for me, so please be understanding with me. I’m not going to just step aside and let some stranger steal you from me. I’ll just have to step my game up to show you that we were meant to be.” I smiled at her and she returned it. Then again, how could I compete with a prince?
Just then, Callie’s phone started ringing. She grabbed her phone and looked at the screen. She took in a deep breath and answered. “Hello Chandler. Yes, this is Callie…. I know…. Yes, we have a spare key… Sure… We can do that… Yes, we’ll be ready for then…” She hung up the phone and looked up at me. “He said that we should pack anything else we may need for a couple days. They are sending some guys to come pack up the apartment for us. He told me to leave the extra key with the driver when he drops us at the airport. He said he’ll be here in about 2 hours and that we’ll need to be outside waiting and ready to go.” She sighed. I gave her hand an encouraging squeeze. “I guess this is really happening Tessie.” She gave me a weak smile.
“Callie, you can do this. You’re going to totally kick some ass at being a princess.” She giggled a little and looked up at me. “I always thought you were a princess.” I smiled down at her and her eyes lit up. She bit her lower lip and her face flushed a bright shade of red. I grazed my thumb over bottom lip for her to release it, and she did. “Stop that before I bite it myself.” I gazed down at her. Her jaw dropped and I don’t know how, but her face grew even more red.
“Tessie, you’re really going to need to let me down. We have so much to do before we need to leave and after what you told me about last night, I’m going to start with a shower. I feel disgusting. Besides, maybe it will help with this hangover and help clear my head. I don’t want to think too much about what’s going to happen. I know that if I over think this, I’ll change my mind. This all seems so surreal.” She smiled. I nodded and took a few steps back and she hopped off the counter. I couldn’t help but smile when she walked away. Even when she was feeling flustered and defeated, she was still so adorable and confident in herself.
I made my way over to the stove and began to clean up from breakfast. It really didn’t take long. I had just finished wiping off the counters when I heard Callie singing. She didn’t have the best voice, but I loved it. I followed the sound of her voice and before I knew it, I was standing in the door way of the bathroom. I leaned against the frame of the door and just listened. It was almost like I was in a trance. I didn’t snap out of it until the song ended. Then I realized Callie was naked not 5 feet from me. I blushed at the thought. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve seen each other naked, but it was different now. The girl I was completely head over heels for was standing naked in front of me. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t turned on a little bit. I looked over at the shower and all I could see what a silhouette of Callie’s body. At this point she was almost finished. I didn’t want her to catch me watching her. Before she got out of the shower, I darted to the bedroom and grabbed one of the suit cases from the closet. I ran over to the dresser and made it look like I was looking at the clothes I was going to take. I bit my lip while looking down at the drawer in front of me.
“Hey Tessie.” I take a deep breath and turned around. She had a bright purple towel wrapped around her body. Her hair was slicked back, and she had her dirty clothes in her hand. She walked over to the hamper and dropped her clothes and turned around. “Pick your jaw up off the ground, Copper. That’s a good way to catch flies.” She smirked at me and giggled. I blushed. I didn’t even realize I was staring none the less with my mouth wide open.
I shook my head. “Sorry Cals. You’re just gorgeous.” I flashed her a smile and she beamed up at me. “Hey, so do you have any idea what the weather is gong to be like? That would make packing so much easier.” I smiled at her then made my way over to the closet. I heard her giggle. “What’s so funny, your highness?” I laughed at my joke and so did Callie.
“Well, I was just thinking, why should we pack our old clothes? If I’m a princess, we should be able to go shopping for all new clothes and I need to look the part. Besides, we both need new winter clothes anyways. Chandler told me it’s snowing in New Biblica. So, let’s just pack our favorite things and do some shopping once we get settled. Sound good?” Callie c****d her head to the side and smiled. I nodded and turned my attention back over to the closet to pick out some of my favorite things. “Tess don’t turn around. I’m going to change really quick. I know we’ve seen each other naked before, but I feel like things are different. I don’t want to distract you.” I felt myself freeze. She giggled and I could hear her rustling through the clothes in the dresser. “You’re good now Tessie.” She giggled.
