Different

Gillian’s POV

After having our lunch, she suggested that we go out shopping for her dress she will be wearing at my engagement party which as in two weeks’ time.

I went with her to different shops and by the time I was ready to go back home, I was so exhausted.

“I guess I will see you around,” She said getting in her car as I said bye to her, she had bought for me different things that I didn’t even want to.

I get in my car as well driving back home and when I reached I found my father and mother, he called me earlier that he wanted to see me so I explained that I was meeting Mrs. Sullivan so I guess I was off the hook, for now, at least he won't have to shout at me.

“You wanted to see me?” I asked them after I got near them

“Yes, take a seat,” my father said and I sat down looking at him waiting for him to say something

“Where have you been?”  he asked me and I was surprised that he was asking me that question when I told him where I was.

“Well, I told you that I was with Mrs. Sull…”  I wanted to say when he yelled at me “Don’t lie to me!”  he stood up coming to where I was

“I will ask you for the last time,” He said to me and I scoffed glaring at him

“You won’t believe me even if I explain myself,” I said to him looking away from him, he kept quiet before he chuckled

“Get out of my sight!”  He said to me as I stood up before I could even walk away, he pulled me back to him slapping me across my face. I looked down as tears fell from my eyes “Don’t you dare lie to me again” he said to me as I hurriedly walked out of the room.

Why is it he never believed me when I told him that the truth?  What reason did I have for lying to him?

I went to my room locking myself in my room forgetting my bag in the car with my shopping bag

Now I was looking forward to leaving this house.

Three days later

today I woke up on time, took a shower went to have my breakfast but when I saw Ariel, I decided to just leave like that without eating, I was meeting mason later today so had to get up early

I went to my car opening it and getting in, I started the car but it couldn’t start. I saw the fuel tank and it was empty, I thought I had refueled last night I inwardly said to myself. I chuckled thinking how low my father would think. I grabbed my handbag wanting to leave when Ariel came out of the house.

“Father says you can leave your belongings if he bought them in case you decide to leave the house,”  She said to me and I chuckled, I had spent three days in the house with no one to talk to and now he was asking for his things?

I grabbed my phone throwing everything in the car when I noticed my shopping bag from the back, I grabbed it going back inside, he wanted me to leave his belongings I walked past her going to my room.

She followed me behind grabbing the bag from me, “I will take that as well since you used dad’s money” she said to me

“Give it back! It’s not dad’s money I used to buy that” I said to her when I tried to grab it from her again,

“Oh, where else can you get the money?’  She mockingly said to me taking out the dresses Mrs. Sullivan had gotten for me

“Oh? Trying to be sexy?”  She said laughing “Why did you waste dad’s money like this?”  She mocked me

“How many times should I tell you it’s not dad’s money I used? Mrs. Sullivan bought them for me. Why are you doing this? Check the receipt in there if you don’t believe me” I said to her and she laughed,

“How dare you try….”  She wanted to slap me but moved away when my phone rang, I looked at the screen and it was Mason who calling.

“Hello?”  I said to him picking up

“Where the hell are you? You were supposed to meet me here 20 minutes ago but you are not here” He said, I could tell from the tone of his voice he was furious

“I am sorry, I was supposed to be there but unfortunately I have no transport to get there” I explained to him

“get in a cab or something,” He said but only if knew I didn’t have money on me

“Well, I have no money with me,” I said to him looking at Ariel

“Oh God! Seriously? Where are you?”  He asked me

“am still home” 

“Okay, I will be there in twenty minutes,” He said cutting the line, “Your boyfriend coming to pick you up? I can’t wait for dad to see this” She said to me and I was ready to embarrass them, I was glad Mason decided to come and see me.

I went to my room to wait for him, less than 20 minutes I saw Mason drive-in. “I am here” he sent a text; I quickly grabbed my phone wanting to go downstairs when I saw my father standing there wanting to see the man who came to pick me up. Ariel was so excited to see my humiliation, I walked past them going outside.

They followed me behind and when father saw it was Mason who came to pick me up, his eyeballs almost coming out of his sockets I just enjoyed the scene.

“Mason, how are you son? She didn’t mention you were meeting today” my father said to him, I chuckled looking at him looking forward to embarrassing me/.

“It seems it slipped her mind, please forgive me but we are rushing somewhere,” He said to him as my father and Ariel smiled at us.

“I thought you said you had no transport but I can see all those cars parked outside including yours,” He said to me as he drove out of the yard

“Well, not everything is as it looks like/.”  I said looking away from him. He chuckled “If you wanted me to pick you up you could have easily said so,” He said to me and I just scoffed if he only knew how much I hated being with him.

“Please let’s not talk about this,” I said to him as I looked out the window. I was looking forward to ending this outing with him.

He decided that we also look at different venues for our wedding which we did, and he was the opposite of me. “

“Wow!”  I said looking at all this art in the building, it was so beautiful. I kept mentioning different names of the artists behind the paintings

“You seem to have a lot of interest in art, are you an artist?” the lady who was helping us tour asked me

“No, I just have my own paintings and wanted to be an artist but I couldn’t” I explained getting disappointed with myself wishing I had gone after my passion,

“We should get going,” Mason said to me as I nodded my head looking at him.

We left the building walking to the car, I looked at the place and it seemed beautiful, I wished I could come back here with someone I loved and spend some time with him here.

“Do you like it?”  Mason asked me after we got in the car.

“It looks nice,” I said looking down, “I don’t like it,” He said to me and I just looked out the window.

“But if you will feel at ease being here, we can have our engagement party here,” He said to me as I looked at him puzzled

“Don’t look at me like that. I am not always having my way” he said to me as I looked at him surprised that he agreed that to let me having something I wanted. My family never allowed me but here he was allowing me to choose something on my own
