I could feel my heart sinking as Lux twitched on the floor, his face forming a grimace of pain. How a simple treatment with Healer Hayes turned into this was beyond me, but here we were.
"What’s wrong with him?" I asked, kneeling down and placing a hand against Lux’s burning cheek. "Why is he like this?"
"I don’t know." Healer Hayes admitted, furrowing his brow. "Help me get him off the floor and onto the examination table."
Nodding, I clutched one of Lux’s arms as Healer Hayes grabbed the other. Together, we hoisted the twitching man off the ground.
As we moved, a groan escaped Lux’s lips, along with a string of profanities. I found myself wondering once again what he was seeing.
"Can you do me a favor?" Healer Hayes asked as we gently laid Lux down.
