Chapter Four

Randolph's POV ~~~~~         I was waking up to my mate in my arms as we laid on the love sofa. Her head laid on my chest as she was on top of me and our legs intertwined. She was trying to get up and take her warmth with her so I just hugged her tighter to my form, breathing in her scent. I was happy the way I was and I didn't want that happiness to go away too soon.         "The sun isn't even up yet, kitten. Why are you trying to leave me already," I mumbled before nuzzling my face into her head. I took in a deep breath and her scent filled my nose which caused me to smile.         "I have to help out with breakfast, I'm the sous chef."         "Sexy and a killer cook, you really got it all huh?" That earned me a smack on the chest as she looked up at me, so I kissed her in return. Her new reaction was to blush before burying her face into my chest.         "Come on, I really need to get up and get ready to help out in the kitchen."         "Maybe I can help you out? I want to stay close to my mate." That time she looked at me with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.         "You'd be eaten alive in there by Ferruccio if you tried anything other than napkin folding."         "Oh really? Who is this Ferruccio guy then?" Katherine had my interest peaked, I wanted to know of this man that stood between me and my fated mate.         "He is the executive chef and I'm pretty sure my grandmother's secret lover. You should see how those two flirt when they think no one is looking. And how they flirt when people are looking."         "Sounds like a man I want to meet now but fine, I'll let you go. For now at least." Cupping her cheek gently, I gave her another kiss. This one was longer and more passionate which earned me a soft, throaty moan. I growled in response and shifted my hips a bit to let her know how that moan affected me. A hardening bugle was growing in my gym shorts and rubbed at her hips in the best way, which caused me to moan this time. That made her already red face turn even redder before I allowed her to pull away. I laid there with an arm covering my eyes as I tried to calm myself down. My member and my brain had other ideas as memories of her in my arms played through my mind and then visions of her wanting me just as badly in return tortured me so. I had enough, I got up and decided to grab a cold shower to shock my system out of this lusty torment. The only downside would be that my mate's scent wouldn't be as strong on me to let the others know that I had found my one. ~~~~~ Katherine's POV ~~~~~         I was able to sneak back to my room to grab a quick shower, wanting to wash off the dirt and sweat from last night. Though as I was stripping off my tank top to toss into the hamper, I took a sniff at it and smelled Randy's musky scent and cologne that he used all over it. I inhaled deeply before realizing that I was being a little creepy over a guy I met only a few hours ago. I understood that for werewolves that this whole mate thing is an instant bonding thing, like love at first sight only stronger. But because I was human I didn't really feel that connection like he did. "Well, I did freaking pet and nuzzle a giant ass wolf last night that could have eaten me in one bite like he was a puppy." That thought made me chuckle before I finished stripping and hopped into my shower and started to scrub my skin clean. I then lathered in my favorite hydrating shampoo and conditioner into my hair before turning the water off. I only had time to towel dry before throwing my hair up into a perfect little bun as I did for all of my competitions. I grabbed my black slacks, black work shoes, and slipped on my white tank top before running down to the kitchen. Once inside the doors, I grabbed the last chef jacket that was hanging on the peg.         "You're late," called out Ferruccio without looking back at me. He was busy looking at the food trays before they went out into the dining hall.         "Yes, chef. I have no excuse for myself and I won't let it happen again."         "See that you don't, piccolo*," he said with a kind smile to me at which I nod in return. (*Little one)         "Freddy, I need an ETA on those biscuits! John, don't you let those eggs burn this time! Gloria, not so much salt!" I was in leader mode and barking out orders as my head chef made sure that everything that went out was to his standard. In no time at all breakfast was out and ready for the hungry masses that were to join us any minute. As I was heading out with the last tray of biscuits, they were suddenly taken from me. Before I could fully look around at where they disappeared to, a strong arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me into a strong chest. A pair of lips pressed against mine, causing my eyes to close as I leaned into the kiss. I knew those lips, they teased me for hours last night and stole kisses from me earlier this morning. "Randy," I said a little breathless after he finally pulled away.         "Mmm, I'm glad you remember me, Kat. I've missed you."         "I'm working right now so why don't you sit down to eat?" I could feel the eyes of my father, mother, and Chef Ferruccio on the two of us before pulling away. I stole back my tray and turned around to complete my job. I heard Randolph let out a whimper which caused me to sigh. "I'll get together with you after breakfast. So. Go. Eat." That seemed to make him happy and I could all but see his big, fluffy tail wagging before he went to go sit with the man I saw last night. After putting the biscuits down and headed back to the kitchen, I was surrounded by my family. All with crossed arms and questioning eyes.         "Who was what," my mother asked first.         "What did he think he was doing," my slightly angry father chimed in next.         "How long has this been going on," piped in my younger sister.         "So when is the wedding?"         "Grandma," everyone exclaimed I'm sure loud enough for our guests outside to hear. So I ran to the small-windowed door and looked out at the dining hall. Sure enough, Randolph was at the nearby buffet chuckling to himself. Of course, he had to hear that part. I rolled my eyes at him before heading back to my family, gesturing that they keep their voices down.         "His name is Randolph, he is one of the guests. We bumped into each other last night during my jog and hit it off pretty well. We stayed up kind of late talking and getting to know each other. It. Isn't. Serious. Grandma. So stop plotting my wedding and three kids right now." I knew that look in her eye, it is the same one she got every time she talked about her and my mother's wedding days. She just gave me that chuckle that I knew that I was too late. The old bat already had my color scheme picked, flowers, location, honeymoon, and at least seven names for her great-grandkids. At least three were family names like my father Lucius and late grandfather Alastor. Something Greek or Romian for whatever reason that I never learned. My grandmother Sofia was originally from Italy and she didn't talk much about our family history even though she was the family historian. She kept all the documents, pictures, and films in a special place in the mansion that none of us ever got to see. I was convinced that those secrets would die with her.         "Why was this Randolph kissing you so openly in public?"         "I don't know. We got kind of close last night but nothing happened I swear." ~~~~~ Randolph's POV ~~~~~     After my shower, I just couldn't settle down. I was itching to get back into the arms of my mate so badly that I was thinking of ignoring her threat about the chef and go into the kitchen anyway. So I got dressed in a pair of jeans and a button-up shirt, wanting to look somewhat decent knowing that I'd run into her family at some point today. I headed downstairs and got to the hallway door entrance and stopped when I saw what was going on inside. The one I assumed to be the head chef wasn't doing much yelling, except to those that messed up the plates on the rare occasion. It was my little mate Katherine that was shouting out orders and getting things done promptly. Nothing happened without her say so and nothing escaped her eyes. As I watched her act like a real leader I couldn't help but growl in approval, little turned on by her dominating aura.         "Yeah, she'll make a great Luna one day," I whispered before slipping into the dining hall. I had seen her pick up a tray and knew that I had a small window of time to get to the other doors at human speed. Stealing the tray from got Katherine all flustered that it was cute to watch. I then pulled her towards me, planting a kiss on those pouty lips of hers. Feeling her lean into the kiss made my chest swell with pride knowing that she wanted me too.         "Randy."         "Mmm, I'm glad you remember me, Kat. I've missed you." Hearing her say my name with such a breathless voice made my wolf stir. A desire to make her say it again and again as she writhed under me was starting to build.         "I'm working right now so why don't you sit down to eat?" She wormed her way out of my arm and stole back the tray. I stuck out my bottom lip and let out a soft whimper in protest. "I'll get together with you after breakfast. So. Go. Eat." There she went barking orders again, and I loved it. Flashing her a smile I agreed and happy with the amount of my scent that I put on her for the time being.         I went to sit with Phil, my father's beta who was giving me that face once again. "What is it, Phil? I don't like how you are looking at me."         "Why are you hanging around with that human female, Randolph?"         "As I told you last night, she is my mate. She may be human but I still sense the mate bond with her. It might not be as strong considering that it is one-sided but I know that it is her." I gave Phil a stern look and he nodded his head.         "As long as you are certain, sir. Your parents last night were happy with some reservations at the news. What all does she know?"         "Plenty, I didn't hide anything that she wished to ask me last night. She knows what I am and who we all are."         "Does she accept the responsibility of being Luna?"         "We haven't gotten that far yet. I'm trying to take things slow here seeing as she is a human. But so far she has accepted everything I've said as the truth." Phil just gave me a look and I rolled my eyes before getting up to grab some food. I was near the kitchen door when I heard a question that got my interest.         "So when is the wedding?" There were a few shouts from a few different people before my mate's red face came poking through the window. I couldn't help but chuckle, it seemed that my little stunt was caught by her family as well as the wolves that were present in the dining hall. I sat back down with my plate in hand and started to eat. Once I had gotten my fill, after a few extra helpings, I sat quietly while waiting for Katherine to finish in the kitchen.         "What are you doing here all alone?" I looked up and let out a soft, frustrated groan. It was Jessica from my pack and the girl that had been trying to get into my pants for the last five years.         "I'm waiting on my mate to finish with her work so that the two of us can have a little date. Why don't you go find yours?"         "Oh, I thought this was neutral land that no wolves worked here."         "She isn't a wolf she is a human." The look of disgust on her face caused me to growl at her dangerously. "Don't test me, Jessica. I'm not in the mood but I will happily put you in your place if you keep forcing my hand."         "Mmm, and where might my place be, love," she asked while licking her lips seductively at me. I wasn't having it though.         "Yeah, what is her place?" s**t, Katherine was standing right behind me and she didn't sound too happy. So I got up and walked over to her only to have her pull away from me. Damn Jessica. "Answer the question, Randolph."         "Jessica is a member of one of the family clans that make up my pack. Her dad is my father's gamma making her of gamma status. Meaning she is below me as next in line alpha and should follow orders." The last part I forced through gritted teeth. "As I said, shouldn't you be with your mate?" I could smell a male from another pack all over her, she spent the night with someone.         "I didn't find my mate last night sadly. Honestly, you are better off with me as your mate. I mean a human, really? An omega would be better than a bloody human." I felt Kathrine stiffen and I wanted to go to her but she stepped right up to Jessica and got into her face.         "Is that honestly the best you've got? I've made bitches worse than you eat their words with a few fancy steps on the ice. You aren't even worth my lacing up my boots." With that, she turned and walked out and I saw the look of utter shock on Jessica's face. That made me smirk before I followed Katherine out to the garden where she sits under the large gazebo. I could tell right away that while she was brave in front of Jessica, she took the words to heart. She was curled up on the bench and hugging her legs close to her chest, her beautiful face twisted in agony.         I sat down on the bench behind her and wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close to me while resting my head on her shoulder. "Just so you know, Jessica means nothing to me. You are my mate, my love, and my joy. Seeing you hurt only hurts me too." She turned her head to look up at me and I flashed her a goofy grin which earned me a giggle. "There we go, that is the happy girl that I love."         "You only just met me last night, how can you so easily say that you love me when I'm not a wolf?"         "Just like this." I leaned in and whispered softly and sweetly into her ear. "Katherine Rodgers, I am in love with you with all of my heart. Will you go out on a lunch date with me?"
