Chapter3

1088 Words
Tanvi's P.O.V    I couldn't concentrate on my class, on the one hand I was feeling a lot of pain in my stomach and on the other hand I was really sad, if not disturbed about all of the incidents that happened today. I can't understand why the other students are treating me in this brutal way? I haven't done anything wrong to them and yet, they are hostile towards me. I just can't seem to rack my brain around it, these are the reasons why I couldn't concentrate on the class.   I pray to God to finish the class soon, so that this nightmare can be over and I can be with my mother. My mother's lap is the safest cocoon in the world for me, where I can stay without any worries and fear. I love to talk and spend time with her, nothing can touch me, no one can harm me, when I'm with my mother. I don't feel any fear within myself, just from thinking about her. Soon the school was over and all the parents came to take their children back home.   My mother and father came to collect me from school, I ran to them wrapping my arms around my mothers neck, as she picked me up. On the way home I was very quiet, I just rested my head on my mother's shoulder and kept breathing in slow, comforting breaths.    "Why don't you go change Tanvi's clothes and wash her hands and feet?" My father asked my mother, smiling as he spoke.    "Ok. I'll be back down soon." My mother replied, taking my hand in hers and leading me to the bathroom. After washing and changing my clothes, my mother had made us all curry and rice. After eating, my mother caressed my hair and tried to get me to sleep. Slowly but surely, I fell asleep and my pain also started to vanish little by little.   I woke up and rubbed my eyes with my stubby little hands, I looked at the clock and read 4.o'clock. I got down from my bed and walked out of my room, searching for my mother.   Nirmala's P.O.V (Tanvi's mother)   I heard my daughters little footsteps, as she searched for me. I was in the backyard doing some household chores, when I heard her behind me. Tanvi ran up beside me and hugged me, rubbing her face on my leg. I saw that she wasn't fully awake yet, so I picked her up and started kissing her all over her face, causing her to giggle.    "What does my little princess want to have with her milk?" I asked, smiling at her.    "Chocos (chocolate chips) please." Tanvi replied, throwing her arms around my neck. I carried her back into the house and set her down.    "Wait here, I'll be five minutes." I said, as I went to prepare her milk and chocos. After five minutes I brought milk and chocos for her and helped her to feed herself. I always think that if a person develops a habit of doing things on her own then they can be independent in the future. So, I always make Tanvi learn small things like eating with her hand, organizing her books and notebooks, keeping her shoes or slippers in place. I teach her all these habits one by one, so she can do all her work by herself and never becomes a burden on others or feel helpless for not doing any work. After I finished feeding her, I decided to ask about her day. I had to do it in a round-a-bout way to get her to open up about what had happened.   "So tell me about your school, what's it like?" I asked her, smiling brightly.    "My school is really big and we have a very big playground too." Tanvi replied, waving her arms excitedly as she described how big it was.   "And how about the teachers? What are they like?" I asked her.   "The teachers are really good and kind, one of the teachers gave us all sweets at the beginning of class and the teacher's took us to play in the playground at game time." Tanvi replied, still excited. So it wasn't the teacher or the school itself that had made her upset. I could cross those two off my list.   "What about the lessons and your studies? How are they?" I asked, maybe that was the reason, maybe she found it too hard.   "They have taught me a lot of new things, today I learned rhymes. It was fun." Tanvi replied, so she's enjoying her classes and she's not struggling, that's another one crossed off my list.   "What about your classmates? Did you make lots of new friends? Did you share your sweets with them?" I asked, I looked at Tanvi. She didn't reply straight away and her eyes automatically became sad. If someone wasn't as observant as what I was, they would have easily missed the slight tears forming in her eyes. So this was the reason she was unhappy, this was the problem. I need to know more, but I don't want to push her into talking.   "There are more than 100 students in my class, they are good and very helpful." Tanvi said. I could see she was trying to hide her sadness, but Tanvi had a habit, if she wasn't telling you the truth, she would avoid eye contact. I knew this well and easily guessed that the root of her sadness was the other students.    "So tell me about your books, games etc." I asked. She started telling me about all the different things, slowly her mood became happier the longer she talked. I know that slowly and gradually Tanvi will speak to me about her problem. I just don't understand why Tanvi is hiding the truth from me? Why is she lying? She is terrible at lying, so I'll wait for her to talk to me. Guys, what do you think Tanvi will do?  Will she keep mum because of the threat or will she speak up to her mother? Comments please.
