Chapter5

Nirmala's P.O.V    That night I talked to Pawan and told him everything Tanvi had told me, from being bullied to the school not letting us know. He was shocked and enraged, by the whole situation. I was so mad at the school, Sister Daisy assured me she would watch over Tanvi. So what happened?   "What do you suggest we do?" I asked Pawan, I could feel myself getting tired, because we had been talking for a while and looking at Pawan I could see he was the same.   "The best thing to do is confront the school in the morning, after we drop Tanvi off. Ask that nun you were talking to yesterday, what was her name?" Pawan asked, clicking his fingers, trying to remember.    "Sister Daisy. I will speak to her tomorrow and find out what is going to be done about this." I replied, with a slight yawn.   "That's all we can do for now. If it gets any worse I will personally speak with the children's parents, but let's hope it gets resolved before then." Pawan said, rubbing his face. He stood up and held his hand out for me, I took it and we went upstairs to bed. Sleep came pretty fast, though I woke a few times because Tanvi was having nightmares.   The next day, Tanvi was reluctant to go to school. I could see how scared she was of the other students bullying her again. The first day of school would forever be imprinted on her mind, she was shaken to the core.    "Do I have to go to school?" Tanvi said, trying to persuade me into not sending her. I know how scared she is, in fact I heard her crying in her sleep last night. I tried my best to comfort her, but I can't stop the nightmares from coming. She was begging the other children to stop bullying her. She still needs to go to school, no matter what I will get her out of this situation. Those students really need to be taught a lesson, this matter can not be taken likely.   "Apart from the students, do you like going to school?" I asked and Tanvi quickly nodded her head.   "You need to understand that if you give up now, you will never be able to brighten your future or learn to fight for yourself in the future. Just because some students are bullying you does not mean you can give up on the beautiful opportunity in your life." I said, trying to get my point across, but I could see it wasnt working. I need to explain it better to her, I know Tanvi loves her cartoons.   "Had Simba ever given up just because of some problems in his life?" I said and Tanvi shook her head, strongly disagreeing with me.   "No right, because he knows one day he was destined to be the king of the jungle." I explained to her, diverting Tanvi’s mind from the problem to the solution.    "No matter what, we will face a lot of problems in our future, but if we will focus only on the problem then we will have only problems in our mind but if you focus on the solutions of the problems we will find the solutions. There is a very famous saying in English 'there is a solution to every problem' it’s our job to find it." I explained further to her. Courage and a positive attitude could be seen returning to Tanvi’s eyes. She was a big fan of Simba and she loved the way Simba is so courageous and brave, all the problems were solved by him, very tactfully and wisely.    "You're right mom, I'll go to school." Tanvi said, firmly. Before she was really scared of being bullied again by those students but my words truly worked like magic on her.   "Don't be scared, I'm always here for you and we will face all the problems together." I said, smiling at her. Tanvi nodded her head and then went upstairs to get ready for school. The walk didn't seem to take as long today, maybe because we didn't stop at the sweet shop, maybe because I was determined to talk to Sister Daisy.   I took her to her class and stayed with her, until the bell rang for their prayer time. After the bell, I left and started searching the school grounds for Sister Daisy. I could see her, Sister Daisy was in the field where the prayer was going on. As soon as Sister Daisy noticed me, she walked straight over.   "Sister Daisy, I need to talk to you. It's urgent." I said, still angry about everything.   "Okay, why don't you wait for me in the staff room and I'll be there shortly after prayers?" Sister Daisy said, a look of concern and confusion spreading across her face. I went straight there and waited patiently, trying to calm myself down.   "Hello Nirmala, you said it was urgent, what seems to be the problem?" Sister Daisy said, clearing her throat as she entered the room.    "Did you know that Tanvi was bullied yesterday?" I asked her, trying not to sound aggressive.   "Yes I did. I meant to tell you, but I was called away. I have dealt with the matter." Sister Daisy said.   "Did you know she was bullied twice?" I asked her again. Sister Daisy looked shocked and confused.   "No. I knew about the one time and I thought that I had put a stop to it." Sister Daisy said, stunned. I went into detail and told her everything that had happened yesterday, how upset and scared Tanvi was and how angry I was. I could see that she was disgusted and shocked by the brutal and cruel behavior of the other children.    "I assure you that this time, I will take strong action against the students responsible and from now on I will monitor Tanvi." Sister Daisy said. I was a little relieved talking to sister Daisy, but still a mother's heart always gets worried for her child. Sister Daisy's P.O.V   I entered the class with a grim expression. I couldn't get over what those children had done, they never listened to a word I said to them, instead they retaliated against Tanvi for telling the truth. I won't stand for this, it's just plain wrong. I taught the class and after class, I took the handbooks from Ankita and her group. Ankita and her group were taken aback, they didn't know what the reason behind it was, but I could see that they were nervous and scared. Their gut feeling must have been telling them very soon all of them have to face problems.    Being a nursery class student they were unable to understand what was written in the handbook, but they were all supposed to show their handbook to their parent's every day after returning home. Showing handbooks to parents was quite a normal activity in the school as the teachers inform the parents about the homework given or any upcoming test through the handbook. Today was different, the kids were asked to get the handbook signed by their parents no matter what. Further that day the students didn't try to bother Tanvi anymore as they were completely scared out of their wits.   Tanvi P.O.V   I wanted to avoid those students, so I started playing with some of the boys who didn't bully me yesterday. I had candy in my hand and I started distributing those candies to the boys who were playing with me. That day went in peace, I was completely immersed in my studies and enjoyed playing with the other new friends I had made.   Ankita P.O.V  After school, me and my friends went home. I showed my handbook to my parents. My parents looked at me surprised and slightly confused.   "Why are we being called into your school? Did you do something wrong?" My father asked,    "N...no, I haven't done anything wrong." I stuttered out, what is all this about? Why do they want to see my parents? Did they ask to see my friend's parents as well? I know Tanvi never said anything, she is too scared. What is this all about?"    Sister Daisy's P.O.V   The next day, all the parents came to the school because of what I wrote in their children's handbook. I asked Nirmala to come as well, as we really needed to find the solution for this problem and this could only have happened if both the students and parents were present along with Tanvi and her mother.   All the parents were called into the principal's office. I had already informed the principal, Father Joseph Frank about the incident that happened with Tanvi. I also told him that the peon and the caretaker have also seen Ankita and her group bullying Tanvi. Father Joseph looked at me shocked, to know about the incident and he took this matter seriously. He doesn't want any child to get harmed nor does he want the school's reputation to be tarnished. None of us want that.
