Chapter 7

Ronan’s POV “I told you. I know what I saw.” I conversed with Kai, my beta, as we made our way to the chambers in the palace which I reserved for the witches. My palace was vast. It had more rooms than any other palace I have ever stepped foot in. I was never going to have people that were going to fully accommodate it, which was why I created a wing where I kept my witches. I knew the benefits of having a witch by my side. I knew how powerful I was with them, because no one was ever going to threaten my power that would go undetected. I could destroy a whole pack while I sat in my bed, with the coven I had working hand in hand with each other. I managed to gather them over the years, the witches that didn't have covens to fall back to and were at risk in the world. There was once a war that took out all of their elders, so I decided to give them a place to stay. I took them in and gave them a safe place to stay and practise their magic and in exchange, they were going to give me all of the protection and help I needed. Now, I was going to go and get one of them that was going to help me get back Amara’s memories. I didn't want her to spend another day here while she had no idea why I decided to marry her. I wanted to get back the love of my life as soon as possible. “It is scary. I can’t wait to hear how it all went down when she was taken. I swear if he did anything bad to her.” He seethed under his breath. When Amara was here, he was very close to her. They were friends too and when she went missing, he was equally affected by it. “I can’t wait too.” When we reached, I opened up the door to their side and spoke to the first witch that I saw, “Where is Sybil?” I asked her, referring to their leader and the oldest witch in the coven. “I am going to go get her.” She nodded before she headed into the quarters. Moments later, she was back with her by her side. Her face lifted into a pleasant smile when she saw us. “Ronan. It has been a long time since I saw you.” She said, and I nodded with a little laugh. “It has. I didn't have time to come and visit you.” “So why are you here?” She asked as we left the chambers and headed into the main part of the palace. “Can you do a spell to bring back memories that have been erased from someone's mind?” I asked her. She nodded, her short white hair bobbing as she did so, “Of course. Whose memory did you wipe this time?” She asked with humour in her tone. “I didn't,” I opened up the door to the living room. “Amara is back and she seems to have forgotten who I am. I need her to remember me because it seemed like someone had wiped every memory she had of me.” I explained to her. Her expression twisted into a surprised one as she stopped and turned to look at me, “Amara is back?” I nodded, “Yes, and I got married to her because I wanted to get her away from the man who was holding her hostage.” Bitterness filled my mouth when I remembered that he had been holding her all that while against her will. Once she was back to me and she remembered what he had done to her, I was going to make him suffer so much, even more than how he was suffering now. Since his warriors and soldiers were mostly dead, I was going to have an easier opening when I was going to destroy him for what he did to her. “Oh. Okay.” There was still a hint of disbelief in her tone, like the one Kai had before he saw her for himself. The rest of the walk there was silent until we reached her room and we paused. Sybil turned to face us, “You should wait out here. I am going to try and get it back with some spells.” She said. “I don’t want her to be pissed, I mean she is sad about her dead fiancé or whatever,” I told her. “And you being in there is only going to make her feel worse.” She pointed out. I sighed, thinking about it for a moment before I opened the door for her and she got in. Trepidation started to brew up in the pit of my stomach as I started to pace around. After all of these years, I didn’t know how I was going to approach her. Both of us had certainly changed. We weren’t young anymore, and I was scared that we were not going to be compatible again. If she didn’t want me anymore, it was going to break me even more knowing that the love of my life was around me and I couldn’t do anything about it. She was my best friend before she became my girlfriend, so what if she wanted to remain that? I let out a breath as I sat down on one of the seats by the mini sitting room by the hallway to her room and buried my face in my hands. I hoped for it to turn out in my favour. Several minutes later, the door to her room opened and I immediately stood up. I turned to Kai who had been seated beside me and he gave me an encouraging look, and then I stood up and headed there. Sybil was standing in front of the room. There was a concerned look on her face, and that made the blood in my veins run cold. My throat was dry as I approached her and asked, “What happened?” “I am afraid that the girl you brought is not the person you thought she was.” She told me. My heart stopped. “What do you mean?” I managed to choke out. “She looks like Amara. Everything about her is like Amara’s, but this is something I have never been before, Ronan. I tried everything I could but I couldn’t get her back, so that is not her. I think your Amara is really gone.” She told me. I felt my world dizzy around me as my heart crushed even harder. It has been ten years, and the pain of having her gone felt just as new as it was the first time I felt it. I nearly got to my knees but I kept strong as I swallowed the lump in my throat. “How does she look exactly like her?” I asked. “I don’t know. This is definitely a new thing, but I think that she might be the key to how we are going to find Amara. A person doesn’t just look exactly like someone, unless there is a connection somewhere, and with the lady inside, I suppose there could be.” She explained to me. I didn’t want to get my hopes up again. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to bear the pain again. “Do you have any idea of what you are going to do?” I asked her. “I am not proposing to you anything, but I am going to try my best. I am forever indebted to you, remember?” She smiled. I nodded before I shook her hand, “Thank you, Sybil.” “You are welcome. I am going to go and try preparing something with my coven now.” She left, and I stared at the door of the stranger I had just married. I knew she probably needed some explanation but she hated me for putting a stop to her life. I need her to be in this, and help me find the love of my life. I thought about offering her something she couldn’t refuse in exchange for her cooperation.
