Author’s Notes
I’m indebted to the fans of When It Rained at Hembry Castle who insisted on more from Edward, Daphne, Frederick, and Richard. I was both amazed and thrilled that readers took Richard so much to heart so I thought he deserved a place front and center in this Hembry story. In keeping with the Dickens theme from When It Rained at Hembry Castle, I had great fun putting my own spin on A Christmas Carol. In fact, Edward Ellis is based on a young Charles Dickens, whose grandparents were in service and whose father was always in debt. You’re likely to see the Downton Abbey influences as well.
Also in keeping with the original Hembry story, although this novella is set in England and all but one of the characters are English, I used American spellings since I’m American.
