When Logan woke up, he was lying on his bed, his teal duvet and white throw over blanket covering his naked form. He sighed, he never slept naked, he must have been really knackered the night before to just fall into bed after his shower. He didn't even remember feeding Tilly the night before. He was just glad that it was finally the weekend because he didn't think that he could muster enough energy to drive to school, not to talk of teach. Glancing at the clock on his bedside draws, he sighed. Even if it was a school day he would be royally late, seeing as it was way into the afternoon. It was weird though, even on a weekend, he had an alarm set for ten so he could go on his morning run without meeting anyone that wanted to talk to him on the way.
He rubbed his eyes as he got out of bed, going to his closet and pulling on a pair of black cotton track suit bottoms not bothering with a top. Judging from the light streaming in through the curtains, the freak storm from last night had passed. He moved to the curtains and opened them, allowing more light to flood into the room. He smiled as he looked around; he had four book shelves lined up next to each other opposite the windows where he kept all of his favourite books. He had a breath-taking view of his picturesque back garden. But after last night, it wasn’t so picturesque anymore. Most of the flowers were on the grass because their pots were broken. The little wooden gazebo thingy with a swing where he usually spent his summer holiday burying himself in countless books was broken and the swing was on the floor crushing his bed of roses. He sighed as he turned away, instead concentrating on his reflection in the mirror of the window. He was going to have to redo everything and hire someone to fix his swing. He couldn't do without it.
He did a double take when he spotted the bruises on his neck. He stared for a few minutes fingering the patches of discoloured flesh before turning and practically sprinting into the bathroom. Immediately he stepped in, he had a weird déjà vu moment. He felt like there was something he was forgetting. His fingers moved from his neck to his navel as his stomached clenched, butterflies eating at his insides. He blushed for no reason what so ever and he felt like all of him was blushing. Ignoring the feeling, he walked to the mirror in above the sink and his leapt at his reflection.
He looked like someone who’d been thoroughly f****d and that made him blush even harder. His lips were swollen and flushed; his eyes were slightly puffy as if he’d been crying. His throat was dry and scratchy like he’d been screaming. And his neck was covered in what he could only describe as hickies. It seemed as if the door to something he really didn't want to remember was opening. He gripped the sink hard as electric blue flashed behind his eyelids. He could hear a soft chuckle that held promises and amusement. It was sexy. His head hurt. He forgot to take some Advil before he went to bed last night.
As quickly as it started, the door closed and Logan found himself staring at himself in the mirror, not quite sure of what was happening to him. None the less, he decided not to bother with it just yet. Instead, he quickly carried out his routine of brushing his teeth and washing his face before making his way downstairs only to be met with an angry looking Tilly at the bottom on the stairs. He smiled as he picked her up, her nails digging slightly into his skin making him wince.
“Ow, geez. I'm sorry I forgot your dinner and breakfast. I was tired and it was raining!” he complained as he trudged barefoot into the kitchen, letting Tilly down as he made for the bottom drawer close to the door where he kept the cat food. He carried it to her bowl by the back door and stopped when he realized that there was food in the bowl as well as water in the water bowl. Her litter tray was also clean. He just shrugged and put the bag of food back where it belonged. He must have done it and forgotten. He was really tired.
He put a tab of espresso into the coffee machine from the small jar he always kept stocked by the machine and flicked it on as he moved around the house, opening all the curtain and letting the warm rays of the sun in as the smell of the espresso rose in the house. When he heard the machine beep, he positively skipped back into the kitchen for it, carrying the mug into his living room that tripled as an office and a makeshift library. He had huge mahogany book shelves all lined up next to each other along all of the walls in the room. Aside from his bedroom, the living room was his favourite room in the whole house.
He put his coffee down his working table in the corner of the living room designated as his office. He brought some work from school that need finishing. When he realized that he’d left his briefcase in the car last night in his rush to get inside and get warm, he sighed. Sneaking a sip of his espresso, he made for the front door and opened the door, slipping on some sandals he always left at the door before making for his car. The grass was soggy thanks to the rain and threatened to swallow his foot if he wasn’t careful where he stepped. He had to leave the sandals on the porch on his way in because of all the mud under and around it, making a mental note to remember to wash it out sometime during the weekend.
Making his way back to his desk barefoot, he dumped the small duffle bag and his briefcase full of unfinished marking that he had to have done by Monday. He had a feeling that he would be putting a dent in his espresso stock today at the amount of work he had to do. just as he was about to get into it was well, something caught his eye on the bookshelf closest to him.
He knew all the book he owned by heart. Weird, he knew but he knew them and what they look like. He’d never seen this book before. Logan moved towards it and removed it from the shelf. It was hardback, thick and heavy. The back of it was a strange colour that almost seemed like silver that’s why it caught his eyes. It seemed like the sun was reflecting off of it on purpose just so he could see it. Maybe he bought it at a yard sale and forgot about it. He did seem to be forgetting a lot of things recently. It didn't seem to have a blurb either. He took it back to his work table and placed it to the side. He would take a look at it when he surfaced from the mountain of marking that he had to do.
