A slender woman with long platinum blonde hair that was almost white, stood in the long hallway of an old house as a figure dripping from head to toe with water entered, banging the door to announce his entrance.
“Did you meet him?” her voice sounded like it had an echo, then again it always sounded like that. But this time there was a hint of excitement, wonder and interest swimming along with her usual ethereal nonchalance. She looked as if she was staring into space or even right through him instead of having a conversation with him.
“Yes, and did Adad have to open up the sky to drown me?” the man that looked like a drowning cat said in a voice that sounded deathly calm but the beautiful woman knew was anything but.
“That was your fault. I told you to stop picking a fight with him but you refuse to listen. But the goal was accomplished. You met him and the process has started. I do find it interesting however, that the rain penetrated his reality.” she finished in a voice that was like a thousand bells, turned and walked away. She always looked like she was floating when she walked; then again, she always did have something otherworldly about her.
“from what I understand, his reality mimics the real world. Why did I have to find him? I'm sure that I can survive without him, even though it would be just a little while longer. Why did she insist? Is it even wise when we don’t know what we are facing yet?” even though his teeth were still clattering, he wanted to know. It was that he was particularly averse to the man himself, he was just uncomfortable with what he signified. However, since the process has been triggered, there was nothing he could do now but try to change his own mindset, the attraction would be unbearable and the unlocking process would drive the both of them to the brink of madness.
“This time, the task is too difficult. Besides, it is unknown if he would able to sustain himself for the unknown amount of time we must remain here” the look she gave him was full of meaning, but what meaning he didn’t know. How she manged to reduce him to the mind state of a child despite their closeness in age, he didn’t know and didn’t like. “But remember. where there is death, there will always be death, and there is nothing you can do about it. That is the way the universe keeps itself running” and just like that, she disappeared leaving behind a think whip of white smoke that soon disappeared as well.
The man that looked like a drowning cat hated when she spoke in riddles. He was nearly as old as her although from different world but he had yet to master that knack of answering questions without really answering them.
He knew that the longer he spent on earth, he would eventually have to seek him out but he didn't think it would be so soon or that the experience would have such an effect on him. Besides, he just hasn’t had enough time to fully assimilate the fact that something like that was waiting for him. And he didn't expect the man to be locked in to the extent that he didn't know what he was. Aside from the actual unlocking process, Isis was right in the fact that it didn’t look like his environment could sustain him for much longer either.
But he was beautiful, delicate as a flower but sharp. Grey eyes that seemed to see everything with a straight aristocratic nose between. Full pink lips that were slight bluish from the chilly rain that begged to be kissed warm. He had never been particularly attracted to men aside from the rare drunken escapades, but he could see himself easily warming up to this man.
The man that looked like drowning cat now dry and wearing dry clothes, trudged into the abandoned living room and made for the bar. He poured himself a shot of brandy and took a seat in one of the leather sofas in room.
He stared straight ahead seeing nothing but grey eyes and plum lips on a cute but sharp face. But still her words ran through his head. Where there is death, there shall always be death, and there was nothing he could do about it. Great!
