/Aria's POV/
Aria couldn't believe the way her eyes when she noticed the stack of letters all addressed to her. She looked around the office and frowned as he noticed the other brown box stacked in the corner of the shelf. She leaned forward and picked it up.
"Uh!" She coughed while dusting and cleaning the surface from the box. As soon as she opened it a gasp slipped out of her mouth. They were all addressed to her with the same initial X written at the bottom of the card. She knew who it was but she was not ready to believe. The omega softly traced the letter and the card stuck on the wrapping paper. It made her skin tingle.
Why would anyone keep away her presence locked in some old rusty storeroom? How would that benefit anyone? Before she could pick a gift from the box she heard loud footsteps from outside rushing towards the storeroom.
Her feet froze, unable to decide whether she should just walk out or stay there. Aria was aware that they had to leave for the trip as soon as possible. Maybe she should not bring up anything about it but the omega couldn't hold back as soon as the door was pushed open to the store room.
"What is taking you so long Ari?" Her father's gruff voice made the omega tilt her head to look at him.
He walked closer to the shelf she was standing behind and a sound escaped his lips when he noticed the box which was placed on the nearby table. Elvis looked flustered, his eyes slightly widened as if he was not expecting anyone to find out about the box. It made the omega angry because she could sense she was the one who was hiding the box from her. Why would he do that? She thought that her father loved Xander as his own.
"Why dad?" She asked angrily while slamming the letters on the table. Elvis flinched at the reaction and crossed his arms across his chest.
His face was pulled into deep concentration, eyebrows furrowed together as if he was thinking of a reasonable explanation.
The omega felt as a whole body was on fire at his guilty expression. All these years she despised Xander thinking that he didn't care enough about her and betrayed her by leaving and never writing her back as he promised. She couldn't believe that she was naive enough to fall for her father's lies about not receiving any letters or presence even for a birthday.
"It is not important. Just keep that box away. We need to go" Her father sighed.
She gritted her seat at his tone that he was easily dismissing her as if it was nothing. As if he didn't like for all those years about everything. What else was hiding from her?
The omega glared at him, "I am not coming to the trip unless you tell me why you did it? That's f****d up dad! How can you lie to me and pretend that it's nothing? You taught me all these years how lying was a sin"
"Don't take that tone with me Aria and watch your language. You are talking to your father. I told you it's not important so it's not important. Stop being a brat and get in the car."
She could see the frown lines on his face and the way he was shifting his eyes from the box to her.
Aria clenched her jaw as she forced out a breath, "Were you ever going to tell me about it?"
"Jesus!" He exclaimed with a groan punched out of his throat.
"What is with you and that stupid box? Yeah, so I didn't tell you about it. Get over it and pack up we need to leave." Elvis said while hurriedly snatching the letters from the table and stuffing it inside the box.
She looked at him with her eyes widened. Was he seriously doing that? She felt as if she couldn't even recognise him anymore. Her father has always been secretive about certain things and she has a question to him because it didn't matter to her. But the box and the contents inside it address to her and he had no right to save them from her.
"Don't you understand how important this is to me, dad? All these years I hated Xander for abandoning me and our friendship only to find out it was you who was adding fuel to the fire." She yelled while whipping the letters from his hand and pulling the box towards her.
Her father huffed while massaging his forehead, he had a frown on his face and she could hear his loud breathing. The omega could notice the way his hands were clenched tight as he removed his hands from his face and bobbed his head at her.
"I know how this looks-"
"Yeah f****d up" She interrupted him.
Her father glared at her, "Language Aria. It doesn't justify you cursing if you are angry."
"Yeah, dad. Thanks for the life lesson" She rolled her eyes.
Aria knew Xander since she was six. They were the best of friends because most of the pups in the pack refused to play with her. He stayed in their packhouse for two years and they developed a good friendship in those years. She thought he would be in the same school as her and they could forever be the same. How naive of her!
"There's a reason I didn't tell you about those letters and gifts" Her father took a deep breath. He looked hesitant as he was shifting his eyes constantly unable to hold her stare for longer than a minute. That was a sign of a guilty person she could tell even without sniffing his scent.
"And that is?" She inquired her own feet tapping nervously against the hard floor waiting for his answer.
"Because he's your mate!" Her father hissed, his lips pulled in a straight line.
The omega felt as if she couldn't breathe at the information. Xander is her Alpha? How could her father not tell her about it? Many of her classmates were already half bonded and most of them had found their mates. It made Aria feel that she was incompetent and just lost hope in finding her mate. Her father could see the trouble and the pain she was going through but he still chose not to say anything? What kind of father does that? It made her mad with anger and she glared that him.
"How could you?" The omega yelled, tears forming in the corner of eyes with the anger in the tone.
"Aria please-"
"You watched me suffer, you watch me cry but you still did not say anything. How could you do that to me?!" A scream tore her lips as she angrily punched the shelf nearby. The skin on her knuckles tore off by the impact but she couldn't feel the pain, anger completely taking over her body.
"Because he was not right for you" Her father growled.
Elvis's voice made her shiver, the omega inside her whimpering at the noise. Aria stared at her father with her eyes narrowed. He had no right to judge her mate. Besides he was the one who was always happy about Xander's performances and boasted about it. So why would he think in that way?
"And how did you come to that conclusion? You said countless times that you love him dad, remember?" She gritted.
The Alpha exhaled loudly, "I do. He is one of a kind. But also he is not right for you honey. Trust me when I say this"
"Is that why you sent him away? Because you already knew?"
The Alpha snorted, "Everyone in the clan knew on the very day we rescued him. It was stupid of me to even bring him back home"
She gasped, "You don't mean that"
"But I want to. I don't hate him for the person he has become. I am proud of all his achievements but you don't know his heritage Aria. And it's better to stay away"
"And you decided that for me?" She angrily asked.
The omega couldn't believe the words uttered by her father. All this time she thought he loved Xander. What changed? She wanted to convince her father even though she had not met Xander in years. Does he know that she was his mate? She had so many questions spinning in her mind.
"This is a useless conversation. You are too young to understand any of it" Her father deeply sighed.
The omega twisted her mouth trying not to yell at him anymore because it resulted into nothing so instead she nodded her head at him.
"You are right. You should leave dad please"
He raised his eyebrow at her, "What do you mean? You're not going along with us?"
The omega shook her head, "I need to be alone"
And that was the last time she talked with her dad.
