Leaving through the windows, Maria bypassed the security guards and left from the mansion. She hailed down a taxi once she was outside the house and left from there in haste.
.........................….
Back at Alan's mansion, it was dinner time. After working almost through the whole day, Alan sat back on his swivel chair turning round with his eyes closed. The study was dimly lit, the only bright light in the room was the computer screen which was busy loading some information.
He had been trying to find who had the Audacity to attack him on his way back. He knew that the attack was most definitely from his family. He had pretended to be an handicap to stay away from attacks but it seems members of the Louis family considered even an handicap man a problem.
All these years, he had skillfully tried to stay out of trouble and still work his way to the top but it was totally impossible now. Not that he expected it to be. If it was Alan alone then he wouldn't have a problem with it but now he had people to protect too.
His mind flashed back to what happened when he was coming back with his new bride.
~~~~~~~~~~ Flashback ~~~~~~~
The car got hit from the back and the impact made Ariel hit her head on the chair, Alan narrowed his eyes and looked out through the windows, he could spot the snippers hiding around the car and he could also see other snippers positioned behind their car.
His assistant made a signal to him informing him how hectic the route was and the danger they were about to face too. Alan had no choice but to knock Ariel out so that she wouldn’t witness what was about to go on, his hand moved to her back without her notice and he knocked her out.
The cars and snippers tried their best to hit the car and get him out of it but luckily his car was bulletproof and hit proof too. He had decided to take this car today not striking out the possibility of being attacked and it turned out he was not wrong to be suspicious.
~~~~~~~ Back to the present ~~~~~
A knock on the study door made Alan break out of his thoughts, he opened his eyes and stopped his chair from rolling and then sat in a still position. The knock came again and he muttered "Come in"
The door opened to reveal one of the maids in the house, she bowed her head respectfully walking into the room. "Master, the meal is ready."
Alan frowned , it was late and the meal was just getting ready now. "Why wasn't the meal prepared earlier? It's late"
The maid turned confused, she fiddled with her fingers while her head was bowed down. "Ermmmmm, master you told us to prepare your meals late because of work and that's how we have been cooking your meals."
Alan ran his hand through his hair, how could he forget he was the one who had given that rule because he hated eating microwaved meals regardless of the fact that the food might still be fresh.
"From now on, the food should be made earlier than now. You have a mistress in the mansion now and she needs to eat too." Alan ordered and the maid nodded.
"You can go, inform the mistress to come to the dinning room for dinner."
The maid ran out of the room releasing heavy breaths, her body was cold from the scolding she got when nothing was her fault. She would try and stay away from the master next time.
Ariel was playing games on her phone while on the bed when she was informed to come down to eat dinner. Changing into a long nightgown, Ariel then proceeded to leave the room letting the maid lead the way.
The dinning was not as dry and dull like Ariel expected it would be, she saw Stella and Elias sitting there with her husband sitting at the end of the table.
Ariel muttered an awkward 'hi' when she got there and tried to find a place to sit. She walked towards the other end ready to sit far away from her husband.
Alan clicked his tongue, "Come here Ariel." Alan remarked gesturing towards her with his eyes, he motioned for her to come sit beside him without giving her any room for objection.
Ariel moved closer to him and sat beside him with a gloomy face, she didn't want to seat next to him. While Ariel had a gloomy face, Elias and Stella giggled exchanging looks between their master and mistress.
"Serve the food." Alan ordered and the Maid's immediately got to work.
The food was served and everyone began eating slowly, Stella and Elias bickered between themselves while deciding on who was going to serve the food among themselves.
"Ladies first Elias." Stella muttered her lips drawled into a pout.
Elias stuck his tongue out at her, "If you were a lady I would let you eat first but you are a man, so no." Elias replied.
Ariel felt her lips stretched into a smile while holding back the urge to laugh out loud at their bickering.
"You are the man. I am a pretty, kindhearted and nice lady unlike your girlfriend. Hmph!" Stella retorted glaring at Elias for calling her a man.
"My girlfriend is more beautiful than you are that is if she is existing. Face it, you aren't sweet and nice." Elias responded without backing down.
Elias and Stella turned the table into a circus constantly bickering and at one point, Ariel couldn't hold back her laughter. Her laughter rang out in the room causing everyone to turn toward her.
Alan who refused to lift his head no matter how Stella and Elias argued turned towards Ariel when he heard her laughing. His eyes pierced into her soul making Ariel realize what she was doing.
Ariel cleared her throat in embarrassment. "I am sorry for laughing out loud, it's just you both are so funny and you are both behaving like an old couple. Please continue eating." Ariel said returning her gaze back to her plate.
“Ewww, we can never be a couple, talk more of an old couple”. Stella remarked.
“Never say never”. Elias retorted
"You have a sweet laugh and it sounds familiar too." Stella muttered absentmindedly.
