Chapter 24 – Bruises
Jerry woke up. The sun was in his eyes, and he raised a hand to block it out.
“This planet is not being kind to you,” Kajora said, looking down at him with a mix of worry and disappointment. “I shouldn't have cleared you to come along. I should have ordered you to stay in bed.”
“What happened?” He sat up and rubbed the back of his head. It blazed with pain, and there was a large welt.
“One of the Paragons hit you from behind,” Shariel said. Her lip was swollen, and there was a cut across her eyebrow, but her pupils were big and round, and she seemed in high spirits. She grinned. “Don't worry, though. I took care of him.”
