Chapter FiveThe Marquis returned home after a luncheon party that had been of particular interest to him because all the guests except himself were Politicians and they had talked endlessly about the situation between France and England in a frank manner that he had found extremely informative.
As he walked to the library, he was followed by his secretary with a list in his hand.
“What is it, Carrington?” the Marquis enquired.
“I thought you would like to see the names of the guests who have accepted for your party this evening, my Lord,” Mr. Carrington said. “I am afraid that there will be rather more than you first intended.”
