Chapter Six“I find the dancing very warming,” Gilda’s partner commented, as they finished a spirited quadrille. “So do I,” she replied. They walked towards the open window and out into the garden. It was slightly cooler but there was no breeze and Gilda moved towards a seat that was beneath one of the trees where there were several Chinese lanterns hanging. “Can I fetch you a drink?” her partner enquired. “Thank you,” Gilda replied, “a glass of lemonade would be very refreshing.” He walked back towards the house, looking for a servant, and Gilda opened her reticule to take out her handkerchief. She had found that Heloise had a small reticule to match every one of her gowns. They were only little bags made of the same material as the gown, but usually trimmed with lace and ribbons, w
