Prologue

I was drowning.  The ice-cold water pierced through my bones, biting into my skin. Everywhere the water touched, my skin went numb. Starting from my legs, the numbness was slowly moving up. Slowly...slowly like a snake crawling silently towards its prey. "Help!" I cried out and I knew it was in vain because there was no one around. My family probably was thinking that I was playing with other kids. They will have no idea that I was counting my last breath here. My lungs felt like they would burst out of my chest. The struggle to breathe was increasing with each passing second. My body slowly turning into a corpse. "Please...ple...he...help," The words gradually started to become mumbled and my eyes began to droop. I felt sleepy. Really really sleepy. And I knew if I fall asleep now...this will end. I had never seen a scar that almost looked like a heart drawn with a black marker before. Another hand reached out, clasping around mine even tightly and I felt a sharp pull. Someone was pulling me up. It gave me hope instantly. And strength. Strength to push myself up as well with as much force as I could gather. I had to support whoever has come out here in the cold to help me out. So while that person pulled me up, I pushed myself upwards as well. The dark deadly waters seemed to drift farther and farther away and soon I was up, clambering to the biting icy surface, breathing a hundred times faster, panting like my dog Kai. The sun felt warm on my cold skin and I pressed my head on the ice bed, struggling to believe that I was still alive. Through my half-opened eyes, I saw dark eyes peering down at me, dark hairs flowing in the air. "Th..." The words didn't leave my mouth as everything turned dark. But I knew the memory of those dark eyes will always stay ingrained in my memory for as long as I will live...
