Chapter 3Late the day after Roddy and Tommy left Almeria Hall, they arrived at Hotelgefahr. “Kitty said they’re in suite 712,” Tommy said. Roddy nodded and hobbled toward the lift while his lover carried their grips. “Herren! Herren!” The young man behind the desk called after them frantically. “It’s all right—we’re expected,” Tommy called back over his shoulder in flawless German. Roddy had to admit the man had a better command of foreign languages than he did. The lift shuddered and rattled and took its own sweet time getting to the seventh floor, but finally it arrived, and the door slid open for them to step out. And Tommy’s gasp didn’t surprise him, because standing in the corridor before them was an ancient, wizened woman. “Grandmother!” Roddy could see the blood drain from his
