Ruth further inquires if Adam's father, Viktor, is still alive. Ruth has only heard Adam talk about his mother and aunt dying, but he hasn't heard him mention what happened to his father. Adam glances up at her, then frowns. "Oh, I forgot to mention that he died too. But at least I got to spend more time with him than my mother." Ruth nods her head slowly. "I see. Did he get killed or..." "No, he got sick. The disease started slowly, and eventually became worse, not responding to treatment.
