Kiara POV

I was humming a song that is on my mind while watching the bird that stopped on the railing of my window.

There was a knock on the door, I went over to the door to open it.

"Hey," Nico greeted as he stood before my room.

"Hi?" I say but it came out as a question. A chuckle left his mouth.

"Hi as in hi or hi as in hi?" He asked.

"Hi as in hi?"

"I'm watching a movie. I finally got some time, wanna join?" He asked.

"Sure, give me a minute," I say.

"Okay." I wander into the room to take my phone.

I take my phone and charger before going back to the door. Nico is wearing a simple t-shirt and cargo shorts.

"How was your day?" He asked as we started walking towards his room.

"It was not bad, it went good. We had to submit our assignments, then I went for lunch with Kreo and Greg. Came back, got freshen up then started working on my other assignments which I have to submit on Wednesday," I explain to him.

"Nice," he replied.

"How was yours?" I ask him.

"Hmm, I had to do a video conference call with Ryder, Rowen and our other business partners who are tied up with us in our new project. The meeting went on for five hours as we had to discuss everything. Later Rowen and I had to do a video conference call to discuss the marketing."

"Around three, dad asked to join in for an annual meeting in the company. Returned home and had lunch around seven," he said.

"Hmm, was hectic?" I ask him.

"You can say, can't skip anything as they were important," he said.

I nod my head, he opened the door and held it open, I walked in.

I know where his movie space is as we have watched en number of movies together.

"Where is my cushion?" I ask him. Searching for the coffee brown cushion that I like the most.

"That is on my bed I guess," he replied.

"What it is doing there?"

"I picked it up and placed it there."

"Huh?" I ask in confusion. He looked at me before shaking his head with a smile on his face.

"Nothing, I will get your cushion. Get comfortable, choose a movie," he said wandering over to where his bedroom is.

I get comfortable after picking the remote. I search for a good Bollywood movie.

I select the movie Kuch Kuch Hota hai. Nico returns.

"Here." He hands me the cushion and takes the seat beside me.

"You have selected the movie?" He asked.

"Yes," I reply pressing the play button.

"You want to watch Kuch Kuch Hota hai?" He asked.

"Yes."

"Okay, the snacks are in the basket beside yours," he said pointing it.

"Yup."

We get comfortable as the movie plays. I lean back, pick a lays packet.

We don't talk for a while. Concentrate on the movie.

"Any plans on the weekend?" Nico suddenly asked.

"Not really, haven't thought about anything."

"Hmm, I'm free on Saturday. Can we go out for lunch or a day out?"

"I don't know, I will tell you on Friday."

"Sure, don't make any girls plans and ignore my plan okay? I want to take you out," he said looking at me with a serious expression on his face.

I look at him "okay, I will cancel the plans with them," I tell him.

"Okay."

"So Greg is your best friend?" He asked after a while.

"You can say that, he is my close friend," I tell him.

"Oh, does he has a girlfriend?" I bite the inside of my tongue to stop myself from saying something that would make things awkward.

"Hmm, not that I know. He is single right now. He always hangs out with me or Kreo or his friends so I don't think he has a girlfriend," I said.

"Oh... So you two hang out most of the time?"

"Yeah, we do after our classes are done. Mostly we go out for lunch. why are you asking so much about Greg though?" I ask him.

"Just like that," he said.

"Okay."

We didn't talk after that, we watched the whole movie.

"It is one of my favourite movies," I tell him.

"Haha, mum's favourite movie too," he said.

"Elora aunty has a good collection of movies. Her suggestions are good," I tell him.

He laughs, "yeah, David uncle is a movie addict. He loves to watch movies and his partner in movies is mum."

"David uncle?" I ask him.

"You know about our Sitara pinni (aunt) right?" He asked.

I remember Sitara pinni, he has told me about her before. "Yeah."

"Her husband is David uncle. David is my mum's best friend."

"Oh, so your aunt married aunty's best friend?"

"Yes, love marriage. She is the one who made the first move and proposed first. Sitara pinni is crazy but we all love her the most," he said with a distant smile on his face.

I hum as we become silent again. "Want to sit on the balcony?" He asked standing up.

"Of course," I say getting up. His balcony view is the best.

We wander towards his balcony. There is a small and cute sitting area on his balcony.

He sits on the sofa while I go towards the railing to see the moving cars in a distance.

I stand there for some time just enjoying the view as Nico stayed silent in the background.

I don't know what he is thinking, he is usually talkative but this time he is not making any sound or starting a conversation.

"Kiara..." I heard Nico's husky voice. I don't turn around immediately.

"Hmm?" I hummed looking at the black sky.

"Come here," his voice is low making me turn towards him. It's been two weeks that we are back in New York from Spain.

We both became very close and we have this strange bond between us.

We started hanging in each other's room when we are free from work.

I go to college while he goes to his office. The only alone time we got is at night. I don't want to accept this thing but without seeing him I couldn't go to sleep.

I wandered towards where he sat on the sofa. The balcony is attached to his bedroom.

He gently took my hand in his, I took the seat beside his.

He doesn't say a word. Kept looking at me as I look at him waiting for him to speak up.

"I want to ask something," he whispered.

"Okay?" I replied.

"I... Don't know how to tell you this but I need to tell this now. I thought of telling you later but," he started saying.

"I know I irritate you so much, steal your food but... I started feeling something about you. It's very new to you and for me as well," he whispered and my eyes widen knowing clearly what he is going to say.

"I...I love you, Kiara." He softly whispered.

"Wh-what? Nico, I don't think it's love. I-I mean we know each other not for a long time. We just started our friendship and got to know each other, I don't think it's love," I said, his hold on my hand tighten.

I removed my hand from his making space between us. His face has a scowl. He didn't like whatever I said.

"Nico I think it's too early for us to think this as love," I said looking at him.

"Then what it is?" he asked. I gulped down the lump formed in my throat. I don't have an answer for that.

We stayed like that looking at each other what felt like hours before he opened his mouth.

"Forget about whatever I said. You don't like me it's okay. I want to stay alone." he said turning his head towards the wall.

I felt hurt by those words, we were having our best time enjoying and the next moment we are surrounded by uncomfortable silence.

"Okay, good night," I said sadly standing up and walking off to my room.

To be honest, I'm confused about my feelings, I mean I saw so many people falling in love soon and then breaking up in months. I don't want that, I and Nico know each other for months but I don't think it's love.

Even though I feel something for him I don't wanna accept them because I'm scared and I'm a coward.

I groaned before nuzzling my head into the pillow. The whole night I couldn't sleep, many thoughts were running through my head.

Should've told Nico that I need some time instead of those words.

I will wake up early and talk with him I thought slipping into sleep.

"Girl! Wake up!! You are late... Very late!" someone yelled making me groan.

I slowly opened my eyes to see xahria, her bag is sliding on her right arm.

"What time it is?" I asked rubbing my eyes.

"Nine!" my eyes widen and I quickly rushed into the bathroom.

At jet speed, I got ready for the day. It's record-breaking for me. Xahria is waiting for me on the bed while going through her phone.

"Let's go!" I yelled rushing out of the room.

"Chill, we are already late. We will attend the next class."

"Ugh!" I'm frustrated that I missed the class.

"Xahria where is your brother?" I asked her as I see no one.

"He left early today," she answered typing on her phone.

"Ohh."

"Why anything happened between you two? Because he didn't eat his breakfast." her eyes are on me while I looked at the steps.

"Nothing happened."

"Okay."

The whole day I was sad and I don't want to be here. I want to talk to Nico but he didn't reply to my texts nor answered my calls.

I was looking at my message box hoping he would message but he didn't.

I wanted to talk to him and tell him what I wanted to say but looks like he doesn't wanna talk.

Greg asked me if everything is Okay. I told him that everything is good.

When dinner time came, I rushed downwards to see if I could talk to him.

He will be there for dinner and I may talk to him.

"Kia, you need anything honey?" Elora asked while setting the dishes.

"Nothing Elora, I will help you," I said arranging the table.

Xavier and xahria came but I didn't see Nico. I sat beside xahria as usual. Xavier and Elora were talking while we were listening but my mind was not there.

I looked at the time but Nico was nowhere to be seen. I am too coward to ask Elora about Nico.

"Are you okay sweetie? You ate a little today." Elora asked me with concern.

"I just ate sweets before dinner that's why I ate little." I lied even though I don't want to.

I stood up and took my plate to the kitchen. I washed it before placing it on the counter.
