Ch10- “Don’t hurt my daughter or else…”

1407 Words
The next day, I met with the father of the two contrasting girls. One who was weak and the other who was stronger than normal. He was just like his daughter Hazel. Filled with power that is definitely more than normal. None of this is right. Then again, it could be that I felt that way because he was blocking the door that stood between me and his daughter and I didn’t like that. Thankfully before I could say anything that would probably be taken the wrong way by this protective parent in front of me, Hazel voice rang from within the house. “Dad, let him pass through, maybe you can give the third degree to another of Yura’s friends if she ever find another but you are not allowed to chase this first one away. “I should be able to deduce the intention of a male sniffing around my daughter.” Their father returned with a grumble in his normal voice, having no need to shout since he knows his daughters could hear him fine. Hazel was just acting extra. “Daddy!” Yura’s mortified voice came from within the house and a tension which was tight in my chest reduced. She sounded better. “It is my house.” Their father grumbled. “That is it.” Hazel shouted, I heard her footfalls as she approached her father then she started to threaten. “Dad, if you don’t want me to leave this house before I see my mate and then only return to get your blessing when I do see him, you will learn to stop interrogating any visitors which comes to visit.” “But he didn’t come to visit you, he came for Yura.” “Are you saying that Yura is not allowed to have visitors?” The man placed a finger in front of his daughter’s face warningly. “I never said that, don’t try to twist my words young lady.” “Then what are you trying to say?” Yura asked from within the house and the man groaned in defeat while Hazel giggled and then moved back inside, certain that their father will be on a better behaviour now. With the way the man eyed me, I didn’t think so. “You saved my daughter from the pack yesterday.” He said more as a statement not a question still I felt the need to reply. “Yes sir.” I straightened under his look. “You will be an outcast just like my daughter.” He informed me. “I never wanted to be part of their inner circle.” I answered. The man eyes warmed and lost the searching look it had. Then he smiled. Apparently, I had passed some unknown test. “If you hurt my daughter Kayne, nephew to the Alpha. Not even the wolf god could plead on your behalf.” He threatened in a lower tone so his daughters would not be able to hear if they were still listening to our conversation. I smiled at the irony of his statement. How would he know that I was the wolf god? “Agreed.” I replied as he frowned. He was certainly not used to people not cowering in front of him. “Can I enter now?” I asked and for my troubles, he shot me an angry look but still shuffled away from the door and finally allowed me to enter the house. I immediately followed my nose, looking for Yura’s scent and followed it until I reached the kitchen. Then I understood why she didn’t come to the door. Other than the fact that she probably haven’t changed her mind about wanting me close to her between yesterday and today. She was busy cooking in the kitchen, already dressed for school and her sister was there chattering a thousand words in a minute but Yura seemed to be following. “…oh and look, here is your knight in shining armor.” She beamed at me as if she just said something original. I wanted to say that her words weren’t. That expression must have existed for a long time because knight in armor doesn’t exists any more. They are now polices with regular clothes just like other humans. “Hazel.” Yura hissed as she glanced at me and then took a deep breathe. Her hand shook but she turned away before I could catalogue what her reactions meant. “Have you eaten?” She asked. I had but at the chance of tasting her food, especially since I am sure that she would continue to try and push me away, there was only one answer that I could give. “No. Good morning to you too.” She looked at me, just so I could see her roll her eyes, something that made my lips kicked up to a small smile. “Then grab a seat at the table, just not the one at the head and I will be out soon enough.” Then she added under her breathe. “Smartass.” My smile widened as I moved toward where Hazel pointed to me as she started her rapid chatter once more. I got to the room only to see the father seeing at the head of the table. “Come sit close to me.” His tone was mild but his words were more of an order than a statement. Just because I don’t obey the words of any man, I strode to his other side and pull out a chair, not the one he was pointing to. My own small form of defiance. I couldn’t do what I wanted to, not when it would mean that Yura father would have a bad impression of me and try to keep his child away from me. And Yura somehow managed to captivate both my wolf and me. I would not feel okay until I have the answer as to why. Why she identify as kin to me? “An alpha through and through.” The father nodded. “What made you interested in my daughter? This is not the first time you are involving yourself in issues concerning her.” “Her scent.” I replied immediately because I had no reason to hide it. “It reminds me of home.” The man face was expressionless but I had the feeling that I had somehow managed to shock him. “Is she your mate?” He asked, tilting his head to the side like he was trying to understand but I shook my head. “My mate died a long time ago, just after I met her.” I returned and when he continued to stare at me, I knew I had to lie, to give a reason why I am getting close to his daughter. A legitimate reason that he would be comfortable with and which will serve as my alibi for being her friend. “I don’t know if she is going to be my second chance mate though.” He nodded. “That I understand. Since you are an alpha you should be able to protect my daughter from the usual threats she receives.” He stated and I felt a but coming next. I was not wrong when he continued his words. “But don’t hurt my daughter or be a threat to her. If you do.” He looked at me and I was shocked to see his eyes shift. That is a very strange part for Alpha wolves to partial shift. Most times the hands shift to claws to quickly shred through something and the wolves who could do that were said to have control over their wolves who were very powerful. This is the first wolf Alpha I know to change his eyes. His level of control must be on another realm entirely. “I will rip your skin from your bones and force you to eat it.” His eyes shifted back to normal just as his daughters entered, carrying trays of food.” That was when it occurred to me that he didn’t lower his voice and they heard him. Yet they weren’t surprised. In fact, Yura grinned when she saw my eyes on her. “Do you want the bacon to be more than the eggs?” What kind of family is this?
