Hunter’s POV: “What’s so funny?” Rosa asks, her beautiful face scrunched up in a frown that pinches her face. She seems bemused by my response and, frankly, so am I. Normally, the mention of Heidi’s name evokes mixed feelings of anger and bitterness in me, but for some reason, when she mentions the demoness’s name I don’t feel anything. Except maybe a brief fond remembrance of the past before I knew the truth. “Nothing love,” I reply, and she gives me another shy, hesitant smile. Hell, I love this girl so much. I do, and I’m not afraid to say it. But thinking about the hardships and grief she’s suffered makes me feel like my heart’s too heavy to bear. But she comes out of it strong with a fire in her veins and embers in her eyes that show her strength of character to keep getting back up
