SWEET: Daisuke's Serenade

1291 Words
It was a blessed Sunday when you had a date with Daisuke. You chose to wear a bright yellow sundress. It was past eight in the morning when a red pickup truck parked in front of your yard. You held your breath as he got out of the truck looking every inch like the boy next door who can steal any girl's heart away. Daisuke was wearing a white shirt and black jeans, and a white bandana around his forehead.  He always stood out in the simplest of outfits, like a matinee idol of a high-end magazine, you thought to yourself. He smiled, and you found yourself completely mesmerized.  "Hi! Ready?" he asked as he went near you and offered his hand to help you get inside the truck. You took his offered hand and can't help but notice that your hands fit perfectly together, his large hand covered your small tiny one just right. You nodded and he helped you sit next to him as the two of you sped away in his pickup truck. "Where are we going?" you asked. Excitement registered on your face. "You will see," he said and got your hand which was beside him.  He planted a soft kiss on the back of your hand and said, "It is a very special place to me, like the woman beside me." You blushed and felt your cheeks become hot. 'Daisuke always says the best lines,' you said to yourself, as you held your hand close to your chest, hoping it would stop the fast beating of your heart. Hours passed with your heart steadily beating while his right hand was holding yours the whole time.  You feel completely at ease with him beside you.  His aftershave cologne smells light, like a summer day with a hint of cedarwood. His smile is like the sunshine, bright and comforting.  You did not notice at what point in time you entered the forest. But there it was, a cabin in the woods.  A wooden cabin with big windows and a big welcoming front door made from the best of narra logs. You turned to face Daisuke but before you can say anything, a horde of children came out from the front door. Happy cheers came from the little angels. "Daisuke! Big brother Daisuke is home!" excited small voices cheered as Daisuke helped you out of the truck. Children started hugging him and your heart was filled with warmth as he picked up each of the kids, patted them on the head, and hugged them back. An old woman came out, too. "Finally, you got yourself a wife," the old lady said and gave you a warm smile. Daisuke put his hands on your shoulders and held you tight. "I finally found her, Lola," he exclaimed.               ••••••••••••••• The children cheered on you and hugged you tight while a pink tinge colored your cheeks. Daisuke brought out groceries from the back of the truck, boxes of milk, chocolates, and toys for every child. Your heart was so full of joy with the sight of him being so happy. And you pondered on what that happiness means. Daisuke prepared an excellent meal with the kids helping him or just staring lovingly at him. The children are like little chicks following their mother hen. They looked so cute and looking at them gave you unexplainable warm feelings.                •••••••••••••• Later, when all the excitement is over, you volunteered to help with the dishes.  It was you and the old lady who introduced herself as Lola. "You are a very lucky lady," you turned to look at her when you heard her speak. Her voice was soft and mellow, it was old and shrill, but has a certain quality that makes it sound genuinely kind. "Daisuke and I, we are not related by blood," she continued. "He was an abandoned child and grew up all alone in the infamous City of Atlantis. He had no family to care for him." Lola's eyes started to water. "These children are all orphans. They are not related to him by blood". Lola wiped some tears that rolled down her cheeks as she reminisced how it was Daisuke who helped them all, kept them as his own family. "He took all of us here. He cared for us. Protected us. Gave us a family."  You were speechless with Lola's revelations. You can't help but admire the man Daisuke is.  This was a foreign knowledge to you, this has never been revealed in the book. No, Daisuke was just a lone wolf in the book, aside from his mafia members, he never learned to care for anyone else.  It felt like, he was not your creation at all, like someone else took over Daisuke's body and decided to interject his own personality.  You realized just now, that the Daisuke of this world is more than just a pretty face. He has a generous heart. A loving soul. He is a man who cares for others aside from himself.  Just like the family he formed with the Wolves, he also saved these persons who are not related to him in any way.  Because that is the man he is. He has a good soul. Whomsoever that soul is from. You just stared dumbfounded as the old lady nodded her head. "You make him happy. This is the first time his face lighted up like that. For that, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart," the old lady said. You looked at Daisuke from a distance. He was giving a little boy a piggyback ride. Daisuke saw you looking at him and gave you a wave. He came near you and held your hand in his. ''Will you join us?" You nodded and allowed him to lead you outside.              ••••••••••••••• Your heart leaped when you saw the children gathered around a bonfire. A little boy held a guitar and gave it to Daisuke, insisting for him to play. Daisuke's hands held the guitar with such expertise and strummed the strings with his long and calloused fingers.  'Extremely abled man's hands', you said in your mind, as you stared at him, blushing from where your thoughts are going. "This song is for you, Maru,'' he said as he looked straight into your eyes. "I never felt this way before, these feelings that grow stronger every day. I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm falling to the deepest of hell when I think of leaving you. Tell me to stay, and I will gladly do. For a life without you is empty. A life without you. I don't want to imagine a life without you. I think I cannot survive. You are my happiness. And my endless pain. You are everything worth living for. So take me. As tainted as I am, as evil as I had been. Take me. For all that I am belongs to you." He composed a song just like that.  Was that perhaps, a song about how he truly feels about you?  He took your hand in his and kisses your palm. "You have my heart right here," he said as the children start to cheer both of you and teased you endlessly. You felt elated both from how sensual his singing voice is, and for the romantic gesture he just did.  When you meet his azure-colored eyes, you realized that, for now, questions are not necessary. Answers are for another time.
