Jessica POV
My head was pounding as I regained consciousness, my body ached and I was shivering, It was so cold wherever I was. My throat felt like sandpaper. I felt like I was lying on something hard and damp and I was extremely uncomfortable.
I slowly opened my eyes and glanced around, as memories of what had happened, came back to me.
Panic set in, where am I? The last thing I remembered, was that I was being mauled by a giant wolf.
Now, it looks like I’m in a cell of some sort. The floors and walls were made of stone and there were metal bars locking me in. There was a small window in the cell, that let in a little light, it looked like it went outside, but it was so high up and set back in the stone, that I couldn’t actually see outside. There was a small metal toilet in the room and it smelled horrible, almost like someone had died and was rotting in a corner somewhere.
I looked down at myself and saw that I was only wearing a thin blue hospital gown. I had a large bandage covering my shoulder and the pain was excruciating. I flinched when I try to touch it.
I felt a burning sensation around my neck and I reached up to see what was causing the pain, to find that I was wearing some sort of collar, like a metal one and it was hurting me, I tugged at it, but it didn’t budge.
I stood from the cold floor and made my way to the metal bars, they appeared to be the door. I tried to pull on them, but It didn’t surprise me when they wouldn’t budge. They, however, did burn my skin when I touched them, just like the collar on my neck did. I wondered what they were made of, as I rubbed my now, burning fingers together.
I glanced out of my cell, as best I could, trying to avoid touching the bars. I could see it was a dark hallway and there were other cells along it.
I’m not sure what happened after I blackout, someone must have saved me from the wolves, but why lock me up in a cell, if they did?
What do they want from me? I was pulled from my thoughts when I heard footsteps coming towards me, from down the hall.
I quickly moved away from the bars and got as far back in the cell as I could. My back hit the stone wall and my heart was beating fast, the anticipation of who might be coming was running through me.
A man in his mid-twenties came into view and stopped in front of my cell while looking at me. He was tall with a muscular build, he had short brown hair and brown eyes. He had a serious facial expression, he didn’t say anything for a few seconds.
“Wh-where am I?”I stuttered lowly.
“That’s not important, I’ll let the Alpha know you're awake.” He replied with a serious tone.
“A-alpha?” I questioned, barely above a whisper, but the man didn’t even acknowledge me. He walked back the way he had come from and was quickly out of sight.
I let my back slide down the cold stone wall until my ass hit the floor. I wrapped my arms around my legs and hugged myself tightly. My teeth were chattering together, because of the cold.
I felt so alone, that I wanted to cry. I had worked so hard the past six months to get my life in order and now this. What’s going to happen next? Who’s this Alpha guy? I was brought out of my thoughts, when I heard three sets of footsteps coming toward me, from down the hall.
I quickly stood back up and braced myself against the wall, waiting to see, what fate had in store for me next.
My eyes grew wide in fear when three giant, muscular men came into sight and stopped in front of my cell. They all had serious expressions on their faces.
Even with the extreme fear coursing through my body, my heart literally skipped a beat, when my eyes landed on the middle man. If it wasn’t for how terrified I was, I would have blushed at the sight of him, he was that good-looking.
He was around 24 years old, 6’4, with chocolate brown hair that was shorter on the sides and long on top, his hair made his ocean blue eyes stand out. He was extremely muscular, I could see all the muscle definition through his tight grey T-shirt. He was extremely intimidating. I gulped while taking him in.
He didn’t say anything at first, he stood in front of my cell looking at me. His eyes were so intense they looked like they were piercing my soul. I wanted to say something, but in that moment, I had lost the ability to speak. I was squirming in my spot, at the way he stared at me.
My heart was gracing and my breathing was heavy.
“Who are you?” He asked, with a deep husky voice.
“Je-Jessica.” I replied, barely above a whisper.
“Jessica” he repeated my name like he was testing how it sounded, coming from his lips. He didn’t wait long before continuing.
“What are you?” He asked as he furrowed his brows.
“W-What am I?” I repeated the question, having no clue, what kind of answer he expected from me.
“You heard me, stop playing games and answer.” He said, with an accusatory tone.
“I-I don’t k-know what you m-mean, I swear.” I said, sounding desperate. Tears started to fill my eyes, as I glanced between the three men, they all had serious expressions, but the one in the middle had the most intimidating one.
“I suggest you cooperate, or you’ll be here, in this cell for a long time, if not forever.” He warned.
I couldn’t hold back my tears anymore. When I heard those words, they started to fall freely down my cheeks. I was trembling with both fear and from the cold. I didn’t say anything, I was still completely lost, at what he expected me to answer.
“Why were you on my territory.” He asked and I was thankful for a question that I was capable of answering.
“I-I was ch-chased by w-wolves, in the f-forest. One b-bit me and I-I passed out.” I stuttered out the words while shivering. He had a confused frown on his face and I could see the two others had the same look.
“Were you sent here to kill me?” He asked sternly and my eyes flew wide open. Why would he ask me that?
“No” I squealed out in shock, as soon as he asked the question. The question alone made my fear and anxiety spike. What have I gotten myself into?
“I’m going to give you, one more chance. What are you?” He asked with the same stern tone, his eyes were piercing through mine and I swallowed the knot in my throat.
“I-I’m J-Jessica, just a g-girl that w-works in a c-coffee shop.” I managed to get out, not sure what else to say.
“Stop playing stupid. Your scent isn’t human, you don’t have any scent, so tell me what you are?” He said, now with anger in his tone.
My eyes were practically saucers, what does he mean my scent isn’t human? Maybe, he’s got some mental health problems. I mean who else owns a dungeon and thinks people are out to kill them? That must be it, he’s crazy.
“I’m sorry, I really don’t know what you're talking about.” I practically whispered out and looked down at the grown. I couldn’t take his intense stare any longer.
“Fine, you want to play stupid. Stay down here a few days and we’ll see if you change your mind.” He said, with an accusatory tone.
“I-I’m not I s-swear, p-please let m-me go.” I begged while the tears kept falling.
“Guards, no food or water, until she’s ready to cooperate.” He ordered a guard, that was standing down the hall and out of sight.
“Yes, Alpha.” I heard a voice answer.
“We can do this the easy way, or the hard way, and as it stands your going with the hard way. Give it a few days down here, without food and water and we’ll see if you change your mind.” He said, while his eyes never left mine and I felt faint at the sudden surge of anxiety that flowed through my body. I slid down the wall onto my ass, so that I wouldn’t pass out and fall.
“P-please don’t d-do this.” I begged, but he didn’t listen, he turned and walked away from the cell and out of sight. One of the guys followed and the other hesitated a minute and continued to stare at me. I could see pity and concern in his eyes. It didn’t take him long before he realized the others had left and so did he.
I was once again, all alone in my cell, frozen and feeling defeated. How can I make that man believe, that I am telling the truth?
I wonder when I’ll even see anyone again, or if I’ll ever make it out of this cell. He did say that if I didn’t answer his questions, I would potentially stay here forever. I was trying to cooperate with him, but he didn’t believe me. I let out a defeated sigh, at the thought.
I missed Samantha and Brad. They must be so worried about me. Maybe they will call the police and someone will come looking for me.
I don’t even know where I am, no one will ever find me, I’m going to die in this cell. If I’m cut off from food and water, I doubt I could survive more than a week in here. All of a sudden I felt claustrophobic, I felt like the walls were closing in on me.
I couldn’t hold back the tears, I was sobbing uncontrollably, feeling completely vulnerable. I am at that man’s mercy and I don’t think he’s the kind of guy that has any.
I silently prayed for anyone to help me.
