Robert sat in his chair in his fully-conditioned and well-furnished office checking some documents while Mr Bruce sat across fully. He was calm, looking down and already shaking.
“So Mr Bruce, now tell me, on a scale of 1-10, how stupid are you,” Robert asked.
“I….I…. don’t get you sir.” he stammered.
“I asked, on a scale of 1-10, how stupid are you?” he said, his voice sounding like he wasn’t joking with him.
“Umm, I’m not sure sir.” he responded, looking guilty.
“Okay, I will answer that question for you.” he said mockingly.
Robert stood up with his hands in his pockets and walked towards him. He stood behind him, he was trembling in fear, already caught.
“1-10 isn’t enough to say how stupid you are, trying to drain funds from my company!” he shouted.
Mr Bruce shivered with his hands shaking and went on his knees. “I am very sorry sir, please don’t fire me. Please, pardon me” he begged.
“You are lucky I am not attaching punishment or charges to this” he said, and Mr Bruce got up immediately.
“You can collect your compensation pay from finance.” he added, his face looking down.
“Now, get out!” Mr Bruce ran out immediately and Robert went back to his seat.
“i***t!” he said annoyingly, and took a deep breath while he took out the bracelet.
TWO MONTHS LATER
It’s been two months since Emma “sold her body out” and became “a thief.” The money she got from her one-night stand with Robert, she got a small apartment and got a job as a sales girl at a Raina plaza. It has been great she doesn't have to worry about men since her boss was an unmarried lady.
Every night, she lay in her bed and thought about what happened to Robert. Did he report me to the police? Or maybe he didn’t notice the money I stole. These were her thoughts. Sharon said he was very rich. As regards Sharon, she quit the wayward lifestyle months ago, got her own shop, invited her to work there, but she just wanted to be independent, so she turned the offer down.
“Thanks for patronizing me, I look forward to seeing you more again.” Emma smiled fully, staring at the customer. The customer gave her a satisfactory look, turned around and walked away. She opened the register and placed the money in.
It has been two months and Robert hasn’t found Emma yet. He made up his mind to call his P.A investigator Just then, his phone began ringing. It was him, probably to give him the report he does every day.
“I found her sir.” he said, and he jumped up immediately, feeling super excited
Where is she!? He exclaimed.
“She works at a place called Raina Shopping Plaza,” he responded,
“Good! Wait for me, I will meet you there shortly.” he ordered.
He hung up and called his driver. “Get the car ready immediately and ask for a place called Raina Shopping Plaza, we will leave in three minutes.” He instructed him and hung up. Robert dropped everything he was doing and walked out of his office.
“Finally! I found her.” he smacked his lips and took the elevator.
“We are here sir.” The driver said, opened the door and Robert stepped out. The place was fairly big but too crowded.
“Get people away from there and create some space now!” he ordered. He acted just as he was instructed, everyone knew who Robert was. It didn’t take more than three minutes for him to do that.
“It is done, sir,” he said. Robert nodded and walked towards the door. The whole place was empty except for the workers of the plaza. The girls looked at him curiously, and he looked away because none of them was Emma. His P.A walked towards him.
“She is at the back.” he signaled to me. I gave him a thumbs up and walked towards the back of the plaza.
After attending to another customer, Emma went to the back of the Plaza to clear her head for a little while. She heard some noise, she guessed the rush hour was here so she breathed out and tried to regain her strength so she could go back to her post. Suddenly, the door knob clicked open. Emma thought it was her boss to scold her, she pressed her eyelids tightly shrinking at the thought of being shouted on but it was someone else entirely. Emma waited for a second, no word was uttered. She had to turn around to see who bumped in and there he was. She didn’t recognize him at first, but she could never forget those grey eyes.
Damn! “My handsome stranger,” she said silently to herself.
Emma gulped, Robert wore a suit, and he looked furious, or maybe he was surprised too. Without giving it a second thought, Emma ran as fast as she could.
“He must have found me, I can’t face this. I can’t go to jail.” she murmured.
Robert shook his head, doubting if she had any idea who he was. She was running away from Robert Liam? How crazy can she be? He didn’t even bother to move an inch. He snapped his fingers and bumped his head towards his bodyguard. He immediately knew what to do without saying a word to him and went after her. Unknowingly to Emma, someone grabbed her arm forcefully.
Robert sat on one of the chairs flashing a grin at one of the girls. She cooled herself by acting like someone who wanted to faint. He looked at his bodyguard.
“Leave me alone!” she screamed, but she was brought back to him.
He found her, pulling her by her arm and dragging her back. Robert stood up and looked at her in the eyes.
“Treat her like the lady she is!” he shouted. He released her, and she tried to run away again. He grabbed her a little kindly this time.
He moved close to her, squeezed her cheeks and stared deep into her eyes.
“She is the one, take her.” he ordered, and he pulled her towards the car.
“This is kidnapping! I am being kidnapped!” Emma screamed, trying to fight back.
