CHAPTER 8 – Celebration

I

The whole Kingdom of Macedonia rejoiced and food flooded the tables arranged for the grand celebration for the coming of the first grandchild of King Valdimir.

Upon arrival of King Varbango at King Valdimir’s palace, he himself was in total happiness upon knowing that Princess Adrijana is pregnant already.

“This is indeed good news to celebrate. Cheers!” King Varbango made a toast to King Valdimir. It was followed by everyone who was there in the celebration.

Prince Gregory and Princess Adrijana, lovingly hold each other’s hand and would glance with each other affectionately from time to time.

After the celebration, King Varbango returned to his palace with still joy in his heart; eight months from now, he will have his grandchild. He is hoping that his first grandchild will be a boy. He will then be crowned as the Prince of Barbador, who later on will inherit his throne as the new King of Barbador.

Queen Sortuna was in total shock when he heard the news of Princess Adrijana’s pregnancy from her husband, when he arrived in the Palace. Her jaw tightened.

“What did you say my King?” Queen Sortuna asked, hoping that she just misheard the King’s news a minute ago.

“My Queen, I am soon going to be a grandfather. Prince Adrijana is pregnant now.” King Varbango repeated his statement.

“It cannot be.” Queen Sortuna murmured.

King Varbango’s forehead creased. “What do you mean Sortuna?”

“I mean it cannot be a surprised because they are still young especially the Princess, so it is easy for them to procreate.” Queen Sortuna immediately found an alibi to erase the doubt that the King has in his expression.

The King nodded. “Yes, Princess Adrijana is still young so with Kronos. I hope it will be a boy.” Then King Varbango smiled feeling so much bliss. He did not notice the spark of anger in his wife’s eyes.

Queen Sortuna glanced at King Varbango, who is now sleeping soundly after their hot and intimate encounter.

Slowly, she gets out of their room after getting the magical stick that the mysterious woman in the stone house gave her. She needs to go to that stone house again.

“My Queen, why are you here again?” The mysterious woman asked when Queen Sortuna entered her stone house in the forest.

“The Princess wife of the King’s bastard is now pregnant! The King’s new rule might be coming to reality.” Queen Sortuna’s voice is shaking with dismay.

The woman replied with a little laugh. “Don’t fret; your time of pregnancy is soon to happen. You will bear a son that will inherit the throne of King Varbango.”

Queen Sortuna’s facial expression did not change. It is still worrisome.

“Don’t you believe in me and my master, Queen Sortuna?” the mysterious woman asked nonchalantly, when she saw the expression of the Queen.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Of course I do! I do believe in what you can do. I believe in your master’s power.” Queen Sortuna’s voice is apologetic.

The woman in the stone house nodded, satisfied with the answer of Queen Sortuna. “That’s it, believed and you will be rewarded.”    

The Queen of Barbador went home with a light feeling. She was assured by the woman in the stone house that few more weeks and she will be pregnant. She will bear a son; King Varbango’s son, his legitimate heir who inherit his throne.

Inside the room of Prince Gregory and Princess Adrijana, they are starting to be touchy with each other, until the Prince could not control himself anymore and tightly hugged the princess. He kissed her deep and his hand started to move going to his wife’s bosom.

Princess Adrijana suddenly stopped her husband. “Would it not be a problem? I am pregnant remember?”

Prince Gregory laughed. “I am a Doctor my sweet, remember? I know how to do it in a way that you and our son will not have any discomfort.”

“Son? How sure are you that I am carrying a son now? What if she is a girl?” Princess Adrijana’s left eyebrow rose-up when she heard his husband’s statement.

Prince Gregory kissed her wife torridly this time. “Stop speaking my Princess. Let’s do it now.” Then Prince Gregory started to position himself on top of Princess Adrijana, who is now giggling and excited.

As Prince Gregory gently entered his wife, the latter made a deep breath then thereafter tightly wrapped her legs around her husband’s hips. Prince Gregory growled, upon sensing her wife’s readiness to explode.

IV

The next morning, Prince Adrijana is feeling dizzy again. Vomiting became her usual thing to do.  Her personal maid followed all the instruction of Prince Gregory. She takes good care of her Princess Adrijana. Since Princess Adrijana’s younger years, she was already beside her, taking care of her like her own daughter, especially when Princess Adrijana’s Queen Mother died.

At the medical building, Dr. Gregory is busy making rounds with patients.

With one of the patients, he became worried. There are other symptoms that the patient is showing, which seem to be not dengue anymore. The symptoms are more complicated. Her eyes are getting red and her rashes are turning to blisters. He cannot say that it is chicken pox because her blisters are different. The patient’s blisters are bigger compared to chicken pox and it is reddish on top.

He called the Kingdom’s old Physician, Dr. Suarado and showed him the patient’s blisters and red eyes. The old physician’s eyes narrowed. “What kind of illness is this?” He asked worried and confused.

“Dr. Suarado, we need to isolate the patient because we did not know yet the nature of her illness. It might be contagious. That’s why I required you to wear mask and hand gloves.” Dr, Gregory suggested and also explained to make it clear with Dr. Suarado.

The old physician agreed and they transferred the patient to an isolated room, away from other patients.

When Dr. Gregory went home, he did not automatically enter their room. He cleaned himself first and made sure to put alcohol on his hands. He must be so careful especially that his wife is pregnant.

The next day, Dr. Gregory and Dr. Suarado were so surprised. The other patients, who were with the same room of the patient yesterday, are also showing symptoms now similar to that isolated patient.

“Dr. Suarado, this is alarming. The virus spread so easily and immediately. We need to know what is this and the possible cure.” Dr. Gregory’s voice is now in deep trouble.
