Amara
She was getting bored. Two days had passed and for some unfathomable reason she had seen some members of patrol guarding her room. Were they worried she was going to run away in the condition she was in. For heavens sake. She knew only one person had the power to order them to do this and that had to be none other than her stepbrother Damien. How could he do this to her!
To make matters worse, they stayed at the end of the hallway instead or right outside, giving the other omegas a chance to continue their harassment and bullying of her. Right now she was having to contend with Jessica of all people who despite being an omega, was certain that her mate would be the Alpha when she got her wolf.
A blonde with a slim trim figure, highlights in her hair, a dainty nose and big blue eyes, Jessica was one of the most beautiful women in the pack. As such she was given very little work to do in the pack house and quite often snuck away to have some fun with some of the unmated males of the pack. Amara couldn't stand her. Didn't understand why Jessica wouldn't have just saved herself for her mate instead of doing what she did. She wasn't a prude but mates were meant to be soul mates, why would you not wait for it to be perfect and meaningful rather than give it away to someone who most likely would find their own mate later down the track?
Jessica had come waltzing in moments before and Amara was waiting for her to speak, wanting the dreadful girl to leave her room and just leave her alone.
"Well now" Jessica sneered, her mouth in a thin line and her blue eyes flashing as she stared down at a very miserable feeling Amara "looks like your stepbrother" she emphasised "the Alpha of the pack doesn't trust you. Otherwise why would he have guards just for this room" she laughed and Amara wished the guards would come, but they turned a blind eye to everything, including the bullying. She still didn't know what the point of them being there was and neither had deigned to speak to her when she'd asked.
"That is none of your business" Amara said quietly, glaring back at the girl. After two days spent isolated with nothing to do but rest she'd gotten bored and extremely agitated. Jessica was fast using up all the patience she had.
"Oh Amara" Jessica grinned and moved closer, Amara wincing as she moved her leg and backed right up to the wall, exhaling sharply at the sudden contact.
"Ouch" she muttered as Jessica plopped down on the bed right in front of her. Amara braced herself knowing that something was about to happen, Jessica wouldn't have gotten this close to her otherwise.
Sure enough, Jessica reached over and grabbed a pile of Amara's hair as she cried out in pain, wrapping it around her hands and yanking hard enough that Amara toppled forward.
"Listen here you pathetic b***h" Jessica whispered into her ear "you're nothing but trash do you hear me. You are just a pitiful omega that everyone hates and one day" she said a little louder "one day I'm going to be Luna and I'll banish your sorry ass out of the pack."
Amara felt Jessica's grip loosen as she sat back up and looked at her with shining eyes, defiantly refusing to shed any tears as Jessica stood back up rather abruptly.
"You think because you're a good girl that eventually he'll care for you don't you" Jessica said snidely "but he doesn't. If he had you wouldn't be here and you wouldn't have been made an omega. He like everyone else hates you Amara, remember that won't you."
Amara watched her stride off, knowing it would do no good to retaliate. The one time she'd tried it she'd ended up locked in the dungeon after Jessica had lied and told them that Amara had started the fight. The other omegas were either just as bad or ignored her completely. She drew in a shuddering breath as she eased her leg back into a comfortable position, her ankle throbbing wildly as she placed the covers back over her. Jessica's footsteps sounded in the distance and Amara listened, glad when there were no more sounds of her, ensuring the girl had in fact left. She stared up at the ceiling, none of the guards bothering to check in on her. But then why would they she thought to herself bitterly, it's not like the precious Alpha who was her own stepbrother cared about her, so naturally no one else in the pack did. Besides Johnathon that was. For some reason Johnathon was inherently kind to her, made sure she had the same amount of chores as everyone else and tried to keep a close watch on her. Almost like the brother she'd never had she thought rather sadly.
Sometimes she wished Johnathon was her stepbrother. At least he treated her with respect and cared. Amara missed her parents and hated that she'd had to move here after the funeral instead of staying at her own pack. Her stepbrother hadn't even had the decency to attend their funeral and it still smarted. She sighed. Amara figured this was as good as her life was going to get and it wasn't much of a life. When she turned eighteen she had big plans. Amara wanted to leave this hellish place and her miserable no good stepbrother behind and find a place to settle down where she would be treated right, maybe even find a job that paid her so that she could afford somewhere to stay. She didn't want to stay here and be bullied for the rest of her life, she wanted a mate, someone who loved her and who would cherish her, the same as what she would do to them. Was that really too much for her to ask she wanted to scream at the moon goddess, give way to all her frustration and the rage piling inside of her. Instead she began to sob quietly, curling up into a small ball and crying herself to sleep.
