Chapter - 28

Arshita.

Angrily, I sat on the sofa glaring my mom and brother while dadu laughed at me.

" Beta, it's okay. We wanted to see you." He said spreading his hands. I lazily walked up to him, but I was so in need of the warm hug that the tight hug said enough.

Everything was great as heaven at home but they only told me when I said that after I boarded on the plane.

"Don't worry everything is fine except you not at home. Got it? That's why I was so sad, we were so sad. " He said at the phone to anger me to the peak.

"I got so worried. Even I cried! " I said glaring the great actor, my brother who was poking his tongue at me.

" I hate you. " I said to him.

" I am happy that I am not only meeting my sista but the man who joined her because she wasn't doing well. " Bhaiya wiggled his eyebrows.

I told them that he was my boss and I was I his personal Secretary but when I called him by name and the way he looked at me, my family got the hint.

I looked at him sitting in the sofa, sipping on his coffee and when our eyes matched, he raised his eyebrows and gave me sly smile. He wasn't less at all.

" You didn't tell that you promoted to consultant? " Mom said looking both of us one at a time.

" Mom, I was going-" He cuts me off and began himself.

" It was just last night that I told her this, and she will be more of a partner, bidding lowest in the company and letting her potentials claim the rest he shall get to, you know. Right, Arshita? " He shook his head.

Was it like that?

" Yeah, it is this. I will be investing some money, what? " I tried to pull it up but the 'investing' word just cracked me. What was I investing?

" Investing her precious talents and ideals which of course don't come for free, or maybe some money." He looked at me in pity.

"Well I am a doctor but we do have a big hospital which sort of needs business skills. I don't understand what you mean. " Bhaiya said looking at him.

Oh please!

" You won't understand the very business things, many people enter inside through the loopholes you don't know. I am doing that. " I said before laughing a bit thinking what I was saying.

" You are saying this in front of your boss that you will use some loopholes or whatever?!" Bhaiya laughed then added, " That's completely okay. You are happy, we are happy."

"That's what I was going to say. " I said sitting on the sofa back.

" How you came with her Armaan? " Arushi asked him of of the blue.

Why was everyone into digging things?

" She was so worried so when I was getting her a plane tickets I booked for two. " He said and smiled.

Why was he doing this to me?

" Because he has some meetings to attend here. " I added.

" Do I? " Armaan asked teasingly.

You are doing it!

" Yes you do. " I smiled back.

" Oh I forgot, she is the one who scheduled it before when she was my PA. " He said reasoning to bhaiya.

" We are getting it. " Bhai said looking at me.

" Okay. Now let them get fresh. Dinner will be ready by the time you both get fresh. " Mom declared for good.

I breathed in relief until mom ordered Arushi," Beta show Armaan the guest room and get him the things he would need. "

More him staying, I was marrying him for sure. That's how mad my family about me settling down.

" Mom, he is on a business work here. He got a hotel booked for his stay here already. "

Mom gave a harsh look to shut my mouth and let her handle these stuffs herself. According to her who sent away the godly guests?

" Why will he stay in the hotel when he has family who could serve him this stay. Arushi go! " Mom said.

" Mom you are wasting the money he put for the hotel. " I said.

Mom smiled at him courteously and said," Beta stay here. It would be great to know the people with whom my daughter is working. "

"Yeah stay, I am kind of away from work for few days to give you some company. " Bhaiya said and smiled at me.

You could never be free Mr.Agrawal. You loved your work more than your girlfriend and now wife.

" I would love to get your company here Raonak. " Armaan said. He was totally up for screwing me.

He winked as he walked past me to the guest room. I looked at everyone one by one.

" When will dad come back? Bhabhi? Chachu and chachi? " I asked

them.

" They will come. " Mom said and turned to kitchen and bhai turned to his study probably.

I was home and they didn't even answer me properly. Is that how it works if you go to home? Because last time I checked everyone was desperate to find and talk to me at home.

Sniffing, I walked to dadu and hugged him from behind in his stature. "I love you so much."

"Love you too betu. " Dadu said kissing my cheek.

Serving the guest to the brim of the neck had always been my mom's mission and that's what she was doing now. But in addition to that she was examining him, his actions and behaviour. Was it same way that she did to Ronit?

" Take more paneer beta. " She said to as I watched him act so innocent.

Mom returned to the kitchen and instructed our maids to work their hands faster like always.

" Arshu, go and eat. I don't need your help because you are only standing looking at them eat. " Mom practically taunted me in a decent way.

" I will eat with you and dad and I am not even hungry. " I said entering the kitchen and taking the glasses from her hands.

" May I, chef? " I asked her giggling.

" You may cook. " Mom laughed.

I walked up to the dinner table and placing the glass poured juice in each one of it. Picking one, I reached to his chair and kept it on his side.

He glanced me up as he stuffed his mouth when I sneered slowly," Stop acting, sir. "

He smirked and went on with his ways.

You will see when you will meet the disciplined boss of the house who don't roll on these craps you are playing Richie rich.

Dad come soon, I want see you.

When dinner was over, he was to sleep in the guest room and when he was going, he had to ensure talking to me of course.

" Arshita, please bring that file to me after you will be done with it, okay? " He said.

I nodded at him and glared his retreating back till it got out of sight.

" Arshu dad will be late. Eat! " Mom said placing the plate in front of me.

I sat and began to chew the delicious food made by her. How I missed it too. Bhai came back after wheeling dadu back to his room and sat across the table. Little later Arushi came and grabbed her seat and began to giggle looking at each other.

Mom was cleaning up the table. I took enough time to eat that she even finished and went to her room giving me a kiss.

Two eyes were on me and now I was ready for them. I put the spoon down and looked at them,"What? "

" You tell what's going on? " Bhaiya said.

" Nothing. " I said.

" Don't! We have eyes and Armaan is very straightforward and trying hard to get inside in the family. " Arushi said excitedly. I gestured her to lower her volume urgently.

" Began, we are all ears." bhaiya said coming across the table and sitting beside me like Arushi.

"Fine. " I looked both the sides faces and decided to tell them the truth like always. You could never hide a thing from them even if you want to and that's better.

" He likes me, well he says he loves me from the time I was with Ronit. He saw me first time in the company I think and then that ship tickets we, Ronit and o got for free, remember? " they nodded their head.

" it was him and then he would cross me time and again but never approached because I was with Ronit and happy too. " I said feeling special.

" Ultimate stalker! Tell me how exactly he stalked you? And now? " Arushi asked.

" I don't know. I never asked him this. How long, from when, I don't really know. " I said to her.

" Seriously, next time just ask him this and tell us. What about now? You finally got boyfriend, plans had to be withdrawn now. " She looked at bhai who gave her a agreeing look.

" He is not my boyfriend! We have just met and I don't know him well, no wait, I actually know him, maybe quiet well but after Ronit I am not easily falling into this. And also he was married but his wife died in an accident and he still love so much, I know. " I said remembering the way he always talked about her. I wondered how could he love me when he was in love with her but he already answered me well then, and it made sense.

" Oh! He has kids too, right? And he is searching for a mother. " Arushi fell back but just before she was so leaning towards me in excitement.

I laughed at her reaction before I said," No, he don't. He us definitely searching for a girlfriend but. "

" I am breathing. " She said dramatically.

" Do you like him? " Bhaiya asked me and I never lied to him but hid things, so I decided what to do.

" I.. I like him. We have spent lot of time together in a short meet. We even passed a night in his farmhouse just talking, " I stopped to scan bhai's reaction to it and when he seemed cool about it I continued," Then yesterday he came to make me at ease. It was some people who were talking behind me, about me and that's why he gave me consultant job."

"To stop them and protect you. " Bhai said and o nodded smiling. He was understanding me and not judging.

" You know he always give me advises and helps me, and it's him who last night made me realise how important it is to tell mom dad about Ronit and it won't go wrong. "

Bhai smiled and said," Yeah, it's important but that's so old to even talk about. Let that go mom dad don't even think about it except thinking about.. giving you a right.. right purpose to life like.. marriage. "

He said and showed me his teeth. I knew about it, it wasn't something new to me.

Plans!

" What are plans you were talking about? " I looked at both of them who shook their head.

" Their is a surprise. " Arushi said.

" What? "

" Olay fine. You will meet reputed doctors and entrepreneurs, business man's, five to be exact in a photograph and their details, among whom you will decide whom you would like to meet in personal. Dad is not at hospital but his friends and will return tomorrow morning. " Bhai explained so easily but my ears got hot and I know my face contorted.

" You called me like this even after knowing what mom dad were up to? " I cried.

" Yes we did. You weren't being yourself for these years and even ignored us, your siblings with whom you shared title bits. When you yourself weren't finding yourself a partner, someone has to. Mom and dad are doing it. "

I agreed to what he said. All I could think was 'f**k! Indian people hype to get a girl married.'

I stood up saying," I needed time and see now I have a man, Armaan he even came here for moral support. "

I walked towards my room when Arushi said," So you are saying he is your boyfriend?"

I exasperated looked up to find my mom walk to the table normally. She would have heard but she acted otherwise.

" Stupid. Abeer is Piya's boyfriend. " I said smiling at mom who gave me a look and went away.

We three shared a look before walking back to our rooms.

I entered my old room looking same as it was but extraordinarily clean. Mom thing.

I sat on the bed when my phone chimed. I opened to see his text.

Arshita where you kept my office Bag in your house? I need it.

I sighed. What an excuse?!

"Arshita, please bring me the file after you will be done with it, okay? " I imitated him and fell on my bed.

My phone started to ring and when I didn't pick it up, he messaged me again.

It's urgent. Tell me Arshita. Do you want me to find your bedroom here?

No.

I texted him back. While we came here, he asked me to keep the bag safely nut now he needed it.

I kept it in my cupboard. Piya has a spare key.

I laughed seeing the smiley and headed to washroom.

When I returned, I checked the phone again to find his three texts.

Piya isn't home. You must be keeping your key somewhere. Text me the location fast, please.

Alright, are you ignoring me again because you think I am taking the bag as a liability to meet you? Oh I know you well.

Great! You shouldn't ignore me, it hurts. Let me find you! No, I will ask Arushi.

He even talked to her about us? His guts!

I am coming, Mr Armaan Oberoi.

I wore my slipper and walked towards the guest room to find him stand in the hallway talking on phone.

When he saw me he passed me the phone and saying, "tell the place!"

I took the phone and told the man on the other side, the location on the key.

"Okay. Why are you doing this? " I asked him angrily.

" You were ignoring me and unlike last time it was urgent. " He said.

" And like last time, I wasn't ignoring you. I was in bathroom. " I said gritting my teeth.

" Oh really? I am so sorry. " He sang leaning on the wall.

" What about you giving hints to everyone? You staying here? I told you how my family is obsessed for me getting stable. "

" I am doing what I had to. And did you book me a hotel, tell me where? You expected me to go out without any arrangements. Well I am happy here, your family is more than great. " He scoffed and and wiggled his eyebrows for the last sentence.

" You are telling mom things. You have no idea how strict father I have got except for me. He will bent you on your four if he don't likes you but finds you liking me. " I laughed.

" I know. Told you I have met him already. You know it's only you making it hard for me. " He said as he slowly turned such that I was between him and a wall. He was scaring me again, and in my home.

He smirked and brought his nose almost close to mine. I began to breathe in fear of getting caught.

" If anyone sees you are gone for good. " I said trying to sound confident.

" For good? Talking about déjà vu! You know your family is arranging you to meet couple of smart guys, now I am totally up to taking the place. Would you like them or me?" He asked.

I smiled. Of course him.

" Will check who's better first. But don't worry I may choose you this time, only if, only if I don't have a choice. " I laughed as he narrowed his eyes.

" But how do you know about it?" I asked him quite surprised.

" I know everything. " He laughed then added," Arushi told me something and I told her something. "

" What something?" I asked suspiciously.

"That's we kissed once like now. " He gave me sly smile before tilting his head.

Did we, like ever?

He was to almost touch my lips when we both heard someone to clear their throat.

Great!

He backed away and we both looked at my mom who stared the s**t out of me. He glanced me and said, " I will talk to you about the meeting tomorrow."

He turned and went away just like that, looking cool as ever and that's what he remain all the stupid times, giving me a naughty smile and leaving me to deal with my mom, the ultimate combination of modern but amazingly traditional Indian woman.

I am gone if not he...
