IT’S WEIRD to be traveling with Prime and having Xanthene and my little sister with me. It feels like we are exposing ourselves with our deepest, darkest secret, even though these two not-so-lovely ladies already know everything about it.
I walk next to Prime in his too-fitted shirt and angry looking face. He radiates power and strength, a threat even when he’s only striding silently in the middle of the forest. I see him occasionally scan the trees, probably looking for danger that could harm the supposed fetus in my belly.
Both Xanthene and Lenora shut their mouth, knowing that this isn’t the time to be playing around. Fortunately, crossing the border was easier than I would have imagined.
